April News

Spring is in full bloom, and so is the success of our students! From the workshop to the track, April has been a month of incredible hands-on achievement and record-breaking performances.

Celebrating Our Library Team

April is National School Library Month, and we want to send a huge "thank you" to the heart of our media center. A big shout-out to our wonderful librarian, Ms. Bolton, and her assistant, Mrs. Potts! Thank you for fostering a love of reading and providing a vital resource space for all our Chargers.

Track & Field: Record-Breaking Performances

Our athletes are literally reaching new heights this season! We have two major school records to celebrate:

  • Grant Boyd cleared a massive 15'3" in the pole vault, setting a brand-new PCHS school record!

  • Mya Hudson showed incredible speed and technique, breaking the school record in the 100m hurdles! Congratulations to Grant and Mya on etching your names into the Charger history books.

Skills & Success: CTE Champions

Our Career and Technical Education programs continue to dominate at the state level:

  • Precision Machining Excellence: Our machining students have been "raking in" the awards! Several students placed at recent competitions, earning Gold Honors and officially advancing to the National Competition.

  • Welding Standout: Congratulations to Corbin Traylor, our April Student of the Month! Corbin also showcased his elite technical skills by taking 2nd Place in the State at the Skills USA Welding competition.

Growing Our Future

  • Trilogy Partnership: We are excited to announce that our partnership with Trilogy is continuing to thrive. We already have several students signed up to join the program next year, gaining invaluable real-world experience.

  • The PC Greenhouse is Open: It’s time to get your gardens ready! The PC Greenhouse is officially up and running, selling a wide variety of plants and flowers. Stop by and support our horticulture program!

Innovation in Music

Our Applied Music class had a very special visitor this month. School board member Mr. Skip Willis stopped by to share his passion for music. He generously donated a guitar kit and spent time helping students assemble and customize a brand-new electric guitar!

The Final Stretch

As we look toward the end of the school year, let’s keep the momentum going. There are only a few weeks left—let's stay focused, stay on top of those assignments, and finish the year strong!

PC Vocational Welding

2nd place in the SkillsUSA Indiana state leadership conference and competition! It's been a heck of a month for this guy!! Congratulations Corbin Traylor! He brought the hardware back to Pike Central High School today and a $7500 scholarship and a prize package as well!

These 4 young men faced a very stout welding test at the Local 440 Plumbers & Steamfitters training center in Indianapolis. The blueprint and welding project covered 3 welding processes and 4 positions. The project was positioned low to the ground and it stayed in that location for the duration of the 4 hour test. These welding scores were combined with a professional development test, written welding theory test, and also a student prepared resume to determine the final scores.

There were 24 contestants representing 5 different regions covering the whole state of Indiana. I am very proud of all 4 of them! They all did well and showed determination, skill, and professionalism all day long. It's been a heck of a long day and these young men will sleep well tonight. Way to work fellas!!

🌱🌷🌵PC Greenhouse

The Pike Central School Greenhouse Plant Sale kicks off TOMORROW (April 1) at 3:30 PM and we’ve got some EXCITING updates to share!! Along with a MAJOR renovation to our vocational building this spring, summer, and fall… we are getting BRAND NEW GREENHOUSES!!

Our current glass greenhouses are over 40 years old, and have had very few updates. They’ve served us well, but they’re no longer efficient. The NEW greenhouses will include amazing upgrades like:
Automatic shading
Improved ventilation
Modern growing capabilities

Because construction is getting started soon, our FINAL greenhouse sale in the current facility is moving up to April 1. This is a big reason for our earlier start and earlier end this year!

Sale Details:
• Opens April 1 at 3:30 PM
• Same procedures as last year
• Prices will be posted before opening
• Inventory will be similar to last year

Hours:
• Opening Day (April 1) : 3:30 PM – Sunset
• After that: Sunrise to Sunset DAILY
• Running through approximately April 24 (we expect to be out no later than April 27)
After that, our plants will move OUTDOORS for sales, so we’ll be crossing our fingers that Mother Nature cooperates!

We are SO excited for what’s ahead—by Spring 2027, we’re looking forward to an even bigger, better, and more beautiful selection of plants than ever before! Please continue following along as we enter this exciting new chapter. Thank you for your continued support, kindness, and patience—we couldn’t do it without you!
