Streetlights Not Functioning Around School
Families who walk or drop off students on Eleanor may have noticed that it is very dark. The streetlights on Eleanor from Cleveland to Fairview are not working. We have reached out to the city.
It sounds like a repair is not planned any time soon. See their response below.
Please be careful in driving or walking around the school in the morning.
The city responded, "We will definitely make sure this location is on our list for lighting outages and wire theft repair, unfortunately given the scale and rate of wire theft that is occurring in the city we are simply unable to individually prioritize locations or offer any timeline for when the lights may be repaired. To put this issue in perspective we believe that over 10% of the city’s 38,000 streetlights are out due to wire theft and even with the repairs that we are able to do, this number is only growing. I can share that proximity to schools in one of a number of factors we are utilizing to select locations for wire repair, but this does not address the broader issue."

2026 Boo Bash - October 29!
The Boo Bash Fall Festival is a longstanding Horace Mann School tradition. This year's 4th and 5th grade parents are excited to host this amazing event! We will transform the school, host carnival games, scares (big and small), a neon glow party, and more. All of this fun raises money for another Horace Mann tradition - sending our 5th graders to the environmental learning camp called Eagle Bluff.
The Boo Bash Fall Festival will be held the evening of Thursday, October 29, from 5-8pm.
Bootique Costume Donations
Have gently used costumes and accessories that others might enjoy? Donate them to the Boo Bash! As part of this year's Boo Bash fundraiser to support the 5th graders' trip to Eagle Bluff, we will again be accepting donated items for resale.
To Donate: Drop off clean, gently used costumes and accessories (no toy weapons, please) to the marked bins at the red door school entrance anytime from Monday, October 5 - Friday, October 23.
To Purchase: Costumes will be available for purchase during early Boo Bash ticket sales and at the Boo Bash event on Thursday, October 29.
