Dear Oak Brook Families,

Our Oak Brook Singing Eagles did a fantastic job singing at the Cardinal game on Tuesday evening. Thank you to everyone who purchased tickets to support our school. A huge thank you to all of the parents for getting your child to the game so he/she could perform.

Please mark your calendars for September 27(see flyer below). From 10-noon on that day, PTO is sponsoring a grounds clean up day here at Oak Brook. More information will be coming soon.

Please see the information below that explains how your child can access Destiny (Oak Brook's online catalog for books at our library) and Sora (ebooks and audiobooks students can check out on a device).

Destiny Discover is our online library catalog. It can be accessed through our Oak Brook website, under the “Library catalog“ tab. Using their Google Login, students can check their library accounts, search for library materials, read eBooks, checkout eBooks, create a wishlist of books they would like to read, make book recommendations, and write reviews. They can also search a multitude of databases on the library page to help support research needs. Students can also access Destiny through their MyParkway classlink account.

EBooks on Destiny Discover (Sora): Students can access hundreds of popular eBooks to read on any device with internet access. You can check out, preview or save eBooks using this link. On a personal device using the Sora app, you will need to search for the Parkway School District C-2 as the first step. Once a book is checked out, it can be temporarily downloaded on your device, or you can read online. All books are automatically returned. Students can also access Sora through their MyParkway classlink account.

Our Oak Brook PTO will be providing our teachers lunch on September 30th. The Staff Appreciation Committee is requesting donations of some items to help with this lunch. If you are interested in helping out, please access the sign up sheet using the link below.

The PTO is partnering with Fit Body Boot Camp to raise money for Oak Brook through their 28

Day Training Program. So what are the benefits of participating? You get to jump start your

metabolism before the holidays, getting primed for a healthier YOU, while helping US raise

money for Oak Brook Elementary!

Fit Body Boot Camp is donating 100% of all proceeds back to Oak Brook, all while helping

our community be healthier!

Fit Body Boot Camp is an indoor training facility that helps hundreds of local

community members transform their lives every day, including other Oak Brook

parents and family members. They are located just up the street, at 691 Big Bend Road

(intersection at Big Bend and Sulphur Spring Rd).

Included in the program you will receive:

● New Client Welcome Assessment

● Unlimited Access to Boot Camp Sessions

● Body Composition Analysis Scan & Individual Review

● Nutritional Assistance for healthy living

● Private 1-on-1 Goals Strategy Session (30 mins)

This week we will focus on responsibility. We define responsibility as taking action and understanding the impact of our choices. Taking action can mean doing the right thing or completing tasks you have been assigned. Understanding the impact of our choices means our actions matter. Positive and responsible actions can help and irresponsible actions can hurt others.

As you are going through the week, take time to talk about actions you could take that might make someone's life a little easier by helping with 1 of their responsibilities. It could be someone in your family, a friend or a neighbor. Consider making a list and then acting on that list to brighten someone's day.
