Social Media Trend Warning

Please be aware of a concerning trend on social media where students are inserting objects like pencil graphite into Chromebook ports or outlets to cause short circuits. This behavior is dangerous and can damage devices or even cause small fires.

Please take a moment to talk with your child about the importance of using school equipment responsibly. Any misuse will result in disciplinary action. In addition, if a computer is damaged at this point in the school year, it may not be fixed in time for important end of the year school work.

Board Vacancy Announcement

Board Secretary Jessica Buttimer has submitted her resignation from the District 41 Board of Education effective at midnight on Monday, June 16.

The District 41 Board of Education is now seeking a qualified individual to fill the vacant seat until the next election in April, 2027, when the seat will be on the ballot for a four-year term.

Interested District 41 residents are encouraged to complete this application by 5 p.m. on Thursday, May 15, 2025. As part of the selection process, applicants may be asked to attend an interview with the Board on Monday, June 2nd. To be eligible, an applicant must be a US citizen who is at least 18 years old, has lived within district boundaries for at least one year, and who is a registered voter.

For more information, contact Executive Assistant to the Superintendent and Board Recording Secretary Nancy Mogk.

Superintendent Shares Reflections and Looks Ahead to the Future

Superintendent Dr. Jeff McHugh has been connecting with staff and community organizations to reflect on his first year leading District 41. During these visits, he has shared the district’s strategic goals and the key metrics being used to measure progress and success.

Looking ahead to next school year, the district will launch four Strategic Plan Subcommittees—one for each of the four strategic goals. These committees will include staff and community members, including those without children currently enrolled in District 41. Applications to participate will be made available at the start of the school year.
