Lutherville Lab Report
What's gone down & what's coming up at the leopards' lair.
June 17th, 2022
We did it! We had a strong, momentous, and positive close to the 2021-2022 School Year!
Thank you so much to everyone reading this, for your partnership and support as we navigated this year. Our staff is so grateful for our community and how they partner with us to support children and we extend our gratitude to you for how you all also support us!
Personally, I must say an enormous THANK YOU for welcoming me and supporting me as your principal. The first year as a principal is always a challenge and this year offered plenty of them, and throughout I have greatly enjoyed learning this staff and community, building trusting relationships, and seeing how we can continue to make this the best school doing what we do. I deeply appreciate the many families who reached out with generous, kind words of gratitude. My mentor often says that being a principal can be the best or the worst job in the school system -- this staff and community has made it feel like the best job in the world. Thank you.
Our staff family met on Wednesday afternoon for a luncheon to reflect on the year, celebrate our wins, and say farewell to colleagues who will be moving on. We celebrated huge academic strides from students, the completion of our first full year with our SEL program and many wins with inclusion and partnerships between Gen Ed and SEL students and classes, navigating a pandemic and re-acclimating students to large classes and full school days. It has been a year!
And we shared memories and gratitude for staff moving on to other opportunities. We have already hired or been staffed for many of the following positions. Opportunities where we are recruiting will follow.
Deidre Austen (3rd Grade) is retiring after serving children for 31 years!
Cristin Chisolm (ESOL) has been moved by BCPS to serve other schools.
Cody Leavitt (SEL Classroom) has taken a Special Education position in Howard County.
Julie Washart (2nd Grade) is getting married and relocating to New Jersey.
Sasha Jackson (front office) is pursuing new opportunities as a loctitian.
Ian Thomas (para-educator) is pursuing a teaching position in a CTE program.
Each of the staff members above made a great contribution to our school this year, we appreciate them for who they are and what they've done, and we wish them all the best!
If your child was not in school to bring their report card home on Thursday, it can be picked up in the Main Office or viewed online (directions for viewing available here).
As a reminder, summer hours in the front office are 8:00 - 3:00. Please call with any questions.
No Lab Report until we return. I will be back in touch in July with supply lists and a calendar of events, and information for return. In the meantime -- ENJOY YOUR SUMMER! :)
In partnership,
-Mr. McComb
