Message from Mrs. Vandiver and Mrs. Menteer

Dear Charger Families,

The month of May is here, and with it comes the excitement of wrapping up a wonderful school year! As we approach the final weeks, there is so much to celebrate—our students have made incredible strides both academically and socially/emotionally. We are so proud of their hard work and growth this year!

Teacher Appreciation Week is May 5–9. Please join us in showing our gratitude to the incredible educators who support, inspire, and care for our children every day.

The Book Fair will also run May 5–9! Mrs. Pulliam is looking for volunteers to help run the book fair. Please use the QR code below to sign up and be a part of this fun event.
We will also host Book Fair Family Nights on:

  • Tuesday, May 6th from 5:00–7:00 PM

  • Thursday, May 8th from 5:00–6:00 PM

Immediately following Thursday’s family night, we invite you to attend our monthly Charger Family Group (CFG) meeting at 6:00 PM. One of the topics will be our upcoming Field Day on May 16th. We are currently seeking parent volunteers to help run Field Day stations. Volunteers will be scheduled to work the opposite session from their student’s participation time, so you can still enjoy the fun together! Utilize the QR code on the flyer below for more details and to sign-up to help.

Important: All Field Day volunteers and guests must have an approved background check on file. Please contact the front office for questions regarding background checks.

Several field trips are also coming up:

  • 1st Grade – May 8th

  • 4th Grade – May 12th

  • 2nd Grade – May 13th

Reminder: All attending parents must have a current background check on file. Background checks are valid for one year—please confirm your volunteer status with the front office.

We will celebrate student success with Awards Ceremonies on Wednesday, May 21st. Please check below for times by grade level and join us in recognizing your child’s achievements!

The last day of school is Friday, May 23rd with early release at 12:00 PM. It has been an honor to share this school year with your children, and we are grateful for your continued support.

Don’t forget—Summer School registration is still open!
The deadline to register and receive guaranteed bus transportation is May 2nd. After that, registration will remain open, but transportation cannot be guaranteed.

  • Grades 2–4 will attend summer school at Washington-Franklin Elementary

  • Grades 5–6 will attend at Lincoln Intermediate

  • Dates: June 2–19, 8:00 AM–3:00 PM

Thank you again for a wonderful year. We wish all of our families a safe, relaxing, and joyful summer!

Best regards,

Crystal Vandiver

3rd Grade Field Trip

Third Graders enjoyed the Reptiles and Amphibians presentation on our field trip to the Cape Nature Center. We then were able to tour the museum, go on a nature hike, or go fishing! The day wrapped up with a picnic in the park.

Famous Missourians Projects

Third Graders have worked hard on their Famous Missourian projects! Each student researched an individual from Missouri, wrote an essay, created a Book Creator book, and made a Google slideshow about their person. They then all took turns presenting their slideshows to their class.
