Vision of a Graduate
On March 4, 2025 all professional staff of the HSD had the opportunity to participate in a variety of workshops to better understand our students and improve our practice based on the needs addressed by the community through our Vision of a Graduate (VoG) work. Here is a draft of the VoG.
We had workshops by:
Dr. Luvelle Brown on aligning the VoG with the needs of our learners.
Hannah Markos of VT-HEC speaking on Neurodiversity and Inclusion.
All Learners' Network focused on meeting the math needs of all learners.
David Levine of Changing Perspectives asking us to strengthen our culture of inclusion and belonging.
HSD Instructional Coaches introducing Street Data.
HSD Committees continuing to work collaboratively on curriculum and culture.
Panel of soon-to-be HHS graduates speaking on their experiences in the HSD.

Women in Welding
“Being the ‘only’ woman — or one of just a few — in a nontraditional training program or career can lead to feelings of isolation and a lack of belonging, making it less likely that women will enter or remain in these field,” Alison Lamagna, director of impact at Vermont Works for Women, said in a news release. “Creating spaces that are free from judgment and bias, where women feel safe, supported, and surrounded by others with similar experiences, is a key strategy for reducing these barriers.”
