Dear SGB Families,
I am pleased to introduce SGB's new in-school service program for students in grades 6-8.
Sixth and seventh graders will complete five hours of service during the school year, and eighth graders will complete ten hours.
Students will have many choices to help our school community: welcoming younger children as they arrive in the morning, helping in the lunchroom, assisting in our UPK and PreK classrooms, supporting teachers across grade levels and subjects, serving on safety patrol, etc. Each opportunity gives our middle school students a chance to lead through kindness and care and will be completed during a recess or before school.
In yesterday’s Gospel, the landowner repeatedly invites people into his vineyard: “You too go into my vineyard.” I hear in that invitation a call for each of us to find a way to contribute. Our students’ service may take different forms, but every act of care matters. That is what we hope they will discover through this program.
These required hours are in-school service hours, and I also encourage students to explore ways to serve with their families, parish, and wider community. My hope is that they come to see service as more than hours to complete. It is one way we live our faith as Catholics.
God bless,
Ms. Clarke
THANK YOU
Thank you for all the generous gift card donations for Mr. Natoli! He is deeply grateful and appreciative of the generosity from our SGB community during this challenging time.
