Homecoming Dance! Friday, Oct. 16, 7:00-9:00pm
We are looking forward to having our Homecoming Dance on Friday, October 16. If any YHS student wishes to bring a non-YHS student as a guest, those dance forms need to be submitted to the Main Office by Wednesday, Oct. 14. Students will not be allowed admittance to the dance after 8:00.
We have partnered with YORKWISE and the York Police Department to help foster a healthy and safe Homecoming, and will be having all students and guests entering the dance take a breathalyzer test. Mrs. Monaco and Mr. Hodsdon will be administering the tests. If students do not pass, then parents will be called to pick up their student. If students refuse to take the test, they will not be allowed admittance to the dance, and parents will be called to pick them up. If parents have any questions regarding this decision, please feel free to reach out to Mr. Hodsdon
PSAT/NMSQT Testing October 14 & MTYA October 13 - 16
Attention Junior families, an important update from the Student Services team regarding upcoming PSAT testing! York High School will administer the digital PSAT/NMSQT to all 11th-grade students on the morning of Wednesday, October 14. The exam is provided to 11th grade students free of charge, but please note that no makeup testing dates will be available. For full details on registration, test preparation, testing schedules, what to bring, and why the PSAT matters, please review the full communication here.
Attention Sophomore families, next week, 10th graders will take the online Maine Through Year Assessment during regular classes (English on Oct 13–14, Math on Oct 15–16). These state tests track academic growth, refine instruction, and help determine course placements, so please encourage your student to do their best and attend on time to avoid makeup sessions. You can support them by ensuring they get a good night’s sleep, eat a nutritious breakfast (available free at school), and bring a fully charged Chromebook with its charger each day (plus a book to read if they finish early). If you have any questions, please reach out to the school office.

Encourage your student to check Naviance regularly as new institutions and representatives are added to the schedule!
Student Parking Permits
Students’ use of personal vehicles on school property is a privilege. Students are expected to follow all expectations when operating a vehicle on school grounds.
Any student who intends to drive a vehicle to school must complete a Parking Permit Registration Form (here) and display an issued permit on their vehicle. Permits are provided at no cost to eligible students. Unregistered vehicles may lose parking privileges or be subject to towing. Parking passes will be issued starting on Sept. 8. Students must have permits on vehicles beginning on Sept. 14.
All State of Maine motor vehicle laws will apply, including excessive speed, noise, and reckless driving.
Only students with valid driver’s licenses will be eligible to park at York High School.
Students are expected to park in a marked parking space.
The Student Resource Hub
We have also created a new Student Resource Hub bookmark to make it easier for students to access important digital forms and resources. The Hub includes forms that were previously located in the Front Office Documents folder, including:
- Late Arrival/Early Dismissal Form
- Dance Guest Form
- Extended Absence Form
- And other commonly used student forms and resources
We encourage students to familiarize themselves with the Student Resource Hub, which will provide a convenient, centralized location for accessing these forms throughout the school year.

School Breakfast & Lunch
School meals continue to be available to all students at no charge again this year, regardless of household income. Students are eligible for one breakfast and one lunch. Student lunch schedules will be based on the classes they are in for block 3. Teachers will share lunch information with students on the first day of school.
