A note from Mrs. Kirsten A note from Mrs. Kirsten

Good Afternoon,

Just a quick update fro East--- We recently assigned students to their self-selected lunch tables, and we are already seeing more accountability! Each table has selected a table captain who will serve for the next two weeks and help make sure the group is being responsible and cleaning up after themselves. We are excited to see students taking ownership of their space and helping create a positive lunch environment for everyone!

Have a great weekend!

Take care,

Megan Kirsten

Attention Parents! Attention Parents!

Bus Evacuation Drills

Dear GJPS Families,

Next week, our Transportation Department will conduct state-mandated bus evacuation drills. During these drills, our students will learn and practice safe bus evacuation procedures to use in the event of an emergency.

These drills will be conducted at our elementary schools on Monday, September 28, middle schools on Tuesday, September 29 and high school on Thursday, October 1. These drills are conducted by all buses on school grounds immediately following morning drop-off at each school.

Please be aware that this may cause some delays in our morning middle school and high school routes, as buses are completing their safety drills before beginning their next route. Please be sure to monitor the Here Comes the Bus app to track your bus each of these mornings.

Thank you,

Gahanna-Jefferson Public Schools

It's FUTURE FRIDAY!

This week's career is a Nurse Practitioner.

A nurse practitioner (NP) is a healthcare professional who provides many of the same types of care as doctors. Nurse practitioners can examine patients, diagnose health conditions, order and interpret tests, prescribe medications, and help patients manage their health. NPs can specialize in areas such as family practice, pediatrics, mental health, and women’s health. Becoming a nurse practitioner typically starts with becoming a registered nurse (RN) and earning a nursing degree. NPs then complete graduate-level education, such as a master’s or doctoral degree in nursing, along with clinical training and national certification. Check out the links to learn more about this rewarding healthcare career!

We should all have a Plan A, Plan B, and Plan C for our futures. Don't forget... it is ok to grow and change your mind as new things interest you. If you have an idea for a career for us to showcase, email your school counselor :)

ELA - “Ruthless” is due on CommonLit by 11:59pm. Students are really nailing down their CERER responses. You can help at home by asking to see their writing and making sure they’re including quotes and citing their evidence. Have them explain to you what goes into a CERER response.
