Wolfpack Weekly Grades 9 - 12
Week of September 7th
AGCS High School Families,
We hope everyone found some time to relax and recharge over the four-day weekend, and we hope all of our families had a happy Labor Day!
It is hard to believe that we are already 9 days into the school year. By the end of this week, we will be at 13 days, which is already more than a quarter of the way through the first marking period. Many students will be completing and submitting their first performance assessments if they have not done so already.
Getting off to a strong start can really help set the tone for the rest of the year. We encourage families to continue reminding students to stay on top of their studies and, most importantly, to complete their work on time. Doing so allows students to receive timely feedback from their teachers and helps them stay actively engaged with the content being taught in class. Progress reports are expected to be sent home during the first week of October.
Additionally, please continue to remind students to bring and wear their school ID badges each day. Beginning this past week, students are being charged $1 for each temporary badge that must be created for them during the school year.
Thank you for your continued support as we work together to help our students have a successful start to the year!
Thank you,
Matt Messick and Mark Miller
Being Prepared for Weather
Dear Charter School Families,
One of the things that makes our school truly special is our open campus. Much like a college environment, our students move between buildings and outdoor spaces throughout the day — and we believe this is a wonderful part of their experience here. The fresh air, the change of scenery, and the freedom to navigate their own path across campus are privileges we don't take for granted.
As we head into the fall season — and after a stretch of some memorable thunderstorms — we want to take a moment to remind families that being prepared for the weather is part of life on an open campus. Rain, wind, cold, and yes, the occasional downpour, are all part of the experience. Learning to anticipate and prepare for these conditions is, in itself, a valuable life skill — one that will serve your student well long after they leave our halls.
With that in mind, we encourage you to help your student come to school each day ready for whatever the weather may bring:
A sturdy umbrella for rainy days
Waterproof boots when snow or slush is in the forecast
Hats and gloves when temperatures drop
A warm winter coat throughout the cold months
On the many beautiful days we are fortunate to have, our open campus is a genuine luxury — and our students feel it. There is something special about stepping outside between classes, breathing in fresh air, and moving through the day with a little more freedom than four walls allow. We want every student to enjoy those moments fully, and to be prepared for the days that are a little less cooperative.
Thank you for partnering with us in helping your student build the habits and independence that will carry them forward. As always, we are grateful for your continued support.
Warm regards,
Matt Messick, GeriAnn Lamber, and Mark Miller
