Meet Student Laniah Stewart

Senior Laniah Stewart is interested in pursuing a degree in communications with emphasis in education. Laniah really likes public relations and video production when it comes to the area of communications. Laniah is also interested in working in secondary education. On October 23, 2023 Laniah had the opportunity to shadow interim principal, Mrs. Jackson, to see what the education world is all about. Laniah stated, "I gained a different perspective on the education career path, and learned the importance of having patience, building relationships with students, and consistent dedication. My respect for Mrs. Jackson has grown tremendously." Laniah is still visiting colleges trying to find the right fit for her future endeavors. Culinary Arts Students

We are delighted to share with you an exciting and enriching event that took place on October 7th. Our Culinary Arts students had a remarkable opportunity to host and provide breakfast for the Jackson State University Band, Sonic Boom of the South. The band was in Mobile, Alabama, to participate in the Gulf Coast Challenge, and our students played an integral role in making their visit memorable.

Our talented Culinary Arts students showcased their skills and passion by preparing a delightful breakfast for the visiting Jackson State University Band. This experience allowed our students to not only demonstrate their culinary prowess, but also provided them with a real-world experience of serving distinguished guests.

This event was a true testament to the power of collaboration. In addition to our Culinary Arts students, members of the Vigor High School Band also participated in this event. The collaborative spirit that emerged between our students and the Jackson State University Band was heartwarming, demonstrating that music and culture transcend boundaries.

A highlight of this event was the opportunity for our students to interact with college students from Jackson State University. This engagement offered our students a firsthand experience of the Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) culture, broadening their horizons and fostering a deeper understanding of diversity and different cultural perspectives.

The impact of this event on our students was profound, leaving them with lasting memories and inspiring them to pursue their educational and cultural aspirations with renewed enthusiasm.

We extend our sincere gratitude to Jackson State University for this wonderful opportunity and look forward to future collaborations and cultural exchanges that will continue to enrich the educational experience for our students.

Power Washing

We're excited to share the latest developments at Vigor High School's ongoing efforts to enhance the learning experience for our students. In this edition of our newsletter, we'll be diving into the innovative use of Google Chromebooks by our talented high school students who have been exploring the reformat technique known as "power washing."

Power washing, in the context of Chromebooks, is a method of resetting the device to its original state. This technique erases all data and settings, essentially providing a fresh start. High school students have been learning how to power wash Chromebooks and the potential benefits it can offer.

Our school's commitment to technology-enhanced learning has led to an exciting experience with Vigor’s Signature Programs. Through this collaboration, students are gaining hands-on experience with Chromebooks and learning how to troubleshoot common issues, including system slowdowns, software glitches, Network connection issues, and more.

This initiative is more than just technical know-how. By teaching students about power washing, we're providing them with skills that have real-world applications. In an era where technology proficiency is highly valued, our students are gaining a competitive edge.

One of the most exciting aspects of this project is the collaboration it fosters among students. They work together to troubleshoot and power wash Chromebooks, sharing knowledge and experiences, which not only enhances their technical skills, but also promotes teamwork and problem-solving.

To stay updated on this and other exciting projects at Vigor High School, be sure to follow us on our website and social media channels. We're proud of our students and their dedication to learning and innovation.
