70th ANNIVERSARY KICK-OFF CELEBRATION, SEPTEMBER 20, 2025
The 70th Anniversary Celebration was a joyous and unforgettable event that brought the entire community together in a remarkable way.
The day commenced with a beautiful Mass attended by students, families, alumni, and parishioners. The church was filled to capacity, reflecting the deep sense of faith and unity that defines our community.
Following the Mass, the Community Fair was an overwhelming success! The campus buzzed with energy, enhanced by a variety of booths, a festive atmosphere, and perfect weather. Alumni and current parents alike expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to reconnect and celebrate in such a vibrant and welcoming environment. The fact that so many alumni and families lingered long after the event concluded is a testament to the enduring impact of their OLM experience.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who contributed to making this event meaningful and successful. From meticulous planning and preparation to behind-the-scenes support and seamless day-of coordination, your time, effort, and dedication were truly invaluable. Whether through leadership, logistical assistance, or simply showing up with enthusiasm and support, each contribution was integral to bringing the day to life. We are profoundly grateful to all who helped make this a memorable occasion for our community.
Here's to 70 years of faith, learning, and community—and to many more years to come! The celebration continues!

HAPPY 70TH YEAR OLM! 1955-2025
THE FIRST GRADUATING CLASS OF 1959
SISTER MARY CLAIRE MAHER, O.P. - Founding Principal of Our Lady of Mercy School
In September 1955, Sister Claire became the founding Principal of Our Lady of Mercy School in the Westlake District of Daly City. Sister Claire, who had a way of speaking her mind, was asked by Henry Doelger, the builder of the Westlake homes, if she could use some books for the library, she said "No, but you could build me a Convent" and he did. Years later when Monsignor Richard Power, Pastor of Our Lady of Mercy Parish, asked what little thing her sisters might want at the convent, Sister Claire asked for a new wing and a chapel. She got her wish.
Sister Claire established long standing Dominican traditions at the new school. She remained the principal until 1963. Sister Claire returned to OLM on November 4, 2012 to help with the ribbon cutting for the new OLM preschool named in her honor - Sister Claire's Preschool.
