RANDOM ACTS OF KINDNESS
Random Acts of Kindness is this week, February 13-17.
Being kind is a trait that I believe many younger people lack. Random Acts of Kindness week is a great opportunity to help kids see the importance of being kind to all. If you see students or other staff performing acts of kindness during this week, please take a picture or write a short blurb of what they did and share with everyone! I hope this will be a fun week for all and brighten days!
Please make sure your child(ren) are filling up their Kindness Bingo Card. The first class to have all student complete their card, will win an ice cream party.
VALENTINE'S DAY PARTIES
A NOTE FROM MRS. B
Howdy Bronco Family! It’s Random Acts of Kindness week here at Burleson Elementary. It’s been such a blessing to see the students participate. But, we know we don’t need just a week to celebrate kindness. Our kids are pretty dang special and kind towards each other throughout the year. I enjoy seeing the respect for one another and seeing students helping other students out. I know this character trait is displayed at home. They know a simple kind word or gesture can make someone else’s day. Our Broncos know kindness costs nothing and, boy, do they spread it! I could not be prouder of them!
Remember, you can always find the latest Meadow ISD news on the MISD website and Facebook page, so go check them out! Also, check your kiddo’s backpack and folders for any important paper notes that may have gone home.
Don’t forget to contact your child’s teacher if you have any questions about what is going on in the classroom. We are always here to help.
It’s ALWAYS great to be a Bronco!
Mrs. B

3RD GRADE
Hello 3rd grade readers,
This week we celebrated Random Acts of Kindness. We wrote a personal narrative over a time that we did something kind and how it made us feel. We worked on using our knowledge of the writing process to help generate a complete personal narrative.
In phonics we worked on vc/cvc/cv syllable division. Students used their prior knowledge to code multisyllabic words to help read and spell different words. Remember the spelling tests are every Thursday.
In vocabulary, we completed a review. I allowed both classes to pick 15 words from the last four weeks that they had trouble on or might have not remembered. This allows students to retain and fully understand each meaning of these commonly used words. Remember vocabulary tests are every Thursday.
In social studies this week we took a break from our economics unit and studied the history of Valentine’s Day. Did you know that the first Valentine’s Day card/poem was sent in the year 1415?
Reminders-
Please be sure to have your child here every day and on time
If you child will be missing school, please call office and message on Dojo
Please have your child read for at least 20 minutes every night
Please be sure your child is completing their daily homework
Thank you for all you do,
Temple Reinhart
Math/Science
· In math we are learning how to find the area of rectangles by counting the square units or multiplying the length and the width.
· In science we are finishing up our lesson on weather and using tools to measure the weather.
· Please make sure your child is practicing their math facts every night.
· Math fact tests are on Fridays.
4TH GRADE
4th & 5th Grade MATH
-In 4th Grade, we are learning about lines, angles and rays. It is always nice when we start a new chapter, especially when we are still working measurement conversions in 5th grade.
-In 5th grade, we are still working on measurement conversions. It starting to feel like a never ending nightmare. 🙂 We will stop measurement conversions once we get the hang of them and it will be soon. Please say a little prayer for us.
-Please have your student practice multiplication math facts every night for 5 to 10 minutes. It will make a world of a difference.
-Thank you for your support.
Mrs. Gamez
Sra. Gámez
Reminders...
- Our 100 day of school dress up day will be next Tuesday, February 21st.
- Spelling List 22 went home yesterday. Our spelling test will be the following Wednesday. Please take time out of your week and long weekend to practice these words with your child. This is an easy way to boost their grade!
- Students must be reading at minimum 20 minutes a day. We have students who have not attempted an AR test since December. It is unacceptable at this age and grade to not be reading independently at home during the week. Thank you to those of you who are helping to partner with me in pushing literacy at home. It makes a huge difference in your child's education!
- Please ensure your child is getting adequate sleep at night. I know as they get older, things happen, and they want to stay up. But it is imperative that they are here, well rested, and ready to learn every day. We have had many sleepy students in class. It is unfair to them, me, and their classmates who have to help keep them awake during the day.
- Reading STAAR will be on April 18th. Please make note of this date. We are winding down and beginning to STAAR prep to make sure they understand their objectives and have the knowledge and skills to ACE it!!!
We had a great Valentine's day celebration. Thank you for all of the sweet treats and for allowing your child to share some love and kindness with their friends!
Jenna Wesley
Recordatorios...
