Holidays can be confusing for someone with dementia.
Advice - SIMPLIFY.
---A confused loved one can still thrive in quiet situations. Arrange for that.
---Celebrate with your loved one separately, honor your relationship on another day than you celebrate with everyone else. They may not even know the difference, but they will appreciate celebrating with you.
---A person with dementia may not recognize loved ones, which can make them feel inadequate and more confused. They still love their family, whoever they are 😌 Teach your family not to ask, "Who am I?"
---Try name tags.
---Maybe your loved one will enjoy being in a big, bubbly situation! Just be sensitive to their needs and know there are alternatives.
Holidays mean extra stress for the caregiver! Come to the meeting for YOUR support and to share with others who are traveling the caregiving journey, as well.

Downsizing and Moving Tips
- Make a roadmap for the move and transition, have a plan.
- Slowly and methodically sift through belongings - room by room, over a long period, if possible.
- Plan to take furniture and pictures that the person with dementia KNOWS, so the transition is seamless and they feel immediately at home.
- A professional organizer can help your loved one ... and take you out of the picture, reducing friction.
- Be sure legal papers are in order.
- Take pictures of special items and put in album - the stories are passed down instead of the items.
