What's the Word, Hummingbird?
What's Happening in our Class!
Hi Hummingbird Families!
This week was filled with celebrations, and we had so much fun sharing in the festivities with your children! I hope they enjoyed it as much as we did!
In our literacy centers, we focused on the sight word “am.” Together, we practiced writing the lowercase “a” and “m,” then combined them to form “am.” We found “am” several times in our shared poem and even in some books around the classroom. Finally, we added different consonants to “-am” to make new words like “ham,” “ram,” and “jam.”
It’s crunch time for our haunted house project, which will be on display this Saturday at the fall festival. The hummingbirds have been busy adding the final touches, and it looks amazing! Be sure to check it out tomorrow at the festival!
This week was full of spooky fun! We had a visit from “Miss Witch” (Ms. Anna’s daughter, Ari) on Wednesday, and celebrated with our Halloween party on Thursday. Ms. Witch helped us make a potion—don’t worry, it was just Kool-Aid! On Halloween, we shared a tasty trail mix with the Desert Tortoises and Grey Foxes and loved seeing everyone in costume!
On Friday, Myra’s mother visited our class to teach us about Diwali, the Hindu festival of lights. We watched a short video and presentation, then painted handprints with watercolors. Soon, we’ll add henna-style designs to them using black sharpies. It was such a fun experience for everyone!
Don’t forget, our fall festival is tomorrow at 10:00! There will be carnival games, raffle prizes, and more. We can’t wait to see you all there!
Have a great weekend!
Ms. Maggie & Ms. Mariah
