Mrs. Meehan's Message

Dear Bywood Families,

What an AMAZING start to the school year! Our first three days have gone so smoothly, and it has been wonderful seeing our students back in the building, happy, smiling, and excited to be at school. Our students are doing a fantastic job learning their routines, and everyone seems to know their dismissal plan already! THANK YOU to our incredible parents and families for your support, patience, and communication. A smooth start like this truly takes all of us working together, and we are so grateful!

As we begin another great year, I want to remind everyone that attendance is extremely important at Bywood. We are very proud to have the highest attendance rate of any school in the district, and we want to keep it that way! Every single day of school matters, and we never want any of our Bywood families to have to deal with truancy concerns. Please, please make sure your child attends school every day unless they are sick. If your child is absent due to illness, please remember to send a written absence note when they return. This is the only way the absence can be marked as excused.

Thank you for helping us start the year so strong. I am looking forward to another wonderful year with our Bywood Royals! đź’ś Please see the important reminders and events below.

Keep smiling,
Mrs. Kristin Meehan

Message from Nurse Meg

Welcome back !

Please contact the nurses office for any medications that are needed at school.

All asthma inhalers, epi pens, and other meds need a new doctor's order every year. Please send in medication with the doctor's order, and labeled prescription box.

All First grade students need a physical, and dental exam form on file for Kindergarten or First grade. Please send forms into school during the year.

All third grade students need to have a dental exam sent into school this year.

The Eagles Vision to Learn program will be at Bywood this year.

They will spot screen first grade, and complete vision exams for some students that have failed previous vision exams at school. Please be on the lookout for an information sheet.

Thank you for your help, Please contact me if you have any questions.

Emergency Cards

Emergency cards will be sent home with students this week. Please take a few minutes to carefully review all of the information listed on your child’s card. Double and triple check phone numbers, emergency contacts, and your home address to make sure everything is accurate and up to date.

Having the most current contact information for every student is extremely important, especially in the event of an emergency. We understand that phone numbers, addresses, and emergency contacts may change throughout the school year. If anything changes, please make sure you notify the school or your child’s teacher as soon as possible so that our records can be updated.

Please only return the emergency card if corrections need to be made. If all of the information is correct, you do not need to send the card back.

All emergency cards requiring corrections must be returned no later than September 11th.

Thank you for helping us make sure we always have the most accurate and up-to-date information for your child!

Arrival Update

Please remember that beginning September 14th, parents and guardians will say goodbye to their children at the school gate during morning arrival. Students will enter through the gates independently, where our staff will be ready to greet them and help them safely make their way into their school lines.

This procedure is in place for the safety and security of all of our students and staff and to help ensure a smooth and organized arrival each morning.

We truly appreciate your cooperation, understanding, and continued support in helping us keep our school community safe!

Parking Reminder

Please remember that if you park your vehicle on Bywood Elementary School property overnight, your car must be removed from the property by 7:15 a.m.

Vehicles remaining on school property after 7:15 a.m. are subject to being towed. We absolutely do not want that to happen, but we need to make sure our parking spaces are available for our teachers and staff as they arrive for the school day.

Thank you so much for your cooperation and understanding!

Address Reminder

f you have moved, changed addresses, or changed any of your contact information, please let us know right away. It is extremely important that Bywood always has the most accurate and up-to-date information for every student.

Having correct addresses, phone numbers, and emergency contacts is essential for the safety of your children and ensures that we can reach you quickly if needed. Please do not wait to notify us of any changes throughout the school year. Your child’s safety is always our top priority! 💜
