ICYMI

#ICYMI — 2nd Edition
We are so excited to share the 2nd Edition of #ICYMI!
This publication is one more way to stay connected to all the amazing moments happening throughout our district. Since not everyone uses social media, we want to make sure no one misses out.
Each month, #ICYMI will arrive right in your inbox — giving you a front-row seat to the Rider experience and ensuring you’re always in the loop (no #FOMO here! 😄).
We’re so proud of our Rider community and want every student, family, staff member and neighbor to feel connected and part of this incredible group of people!

ICCSD Named One of the Capital Region's Best School Districts
🎉 We’re proud to share that Ichabod Crane was named #11 out of the Top 25 Best School Districts in the Capital Region!
The list was compiled by News 10 using data from Niche’s 2026 Best Schools and Districts in America rankings. Niche considers student, alumni and family feedback, as well as school data and U.S. Department of Education statistics.
This recognition highlights the dedication of our entire Rider community – students, families, staff and district residents – who make Ichabod Crane such a special place to learn and grow.

Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month
All K-3 students created artwork in Mrs. Rossback's class. One 1st-grade class met Gustavo — the kind, shy ghost from Mexican artist Flavia Z. Drago’s popular book — & then made their own Gustavos!
Local Firefighters Visit Primary School
🚒 Firefighters from Niverville, Valatie and Kinderhook visited the Primary School for our annual Fire Prevention Day! Students learned about the vital work our first responders do and discovered important fire safety tips to keep themselves and others safe. We’re so grateful to these volunteers for sharing their time and expertise to help raise fire safety awareness! 🔥✨

Celebrating Acceptance at the Primary School
At the Primary School, character education is woven into everything we do. For many years, we’ve celebrated our students’ positive behaviors and qualities with the Good Character Trait Awards, a recognition program honoring two students from each class every month for embodying key character traits.
Each month, students learn about and focus on a specific character trait. At the end of the month, those who best demonstrate that trait are recognized among their peers. In September, our focus was Acceptance. Check out the photo collage above to see this month’s award recipients!
The Good Character Trait Awards are just one of the many ways we encourage and support the qualities that help our students thrive — both inside and outside the classroom.
Spirit Week October 2025
We celebrated Spirit Week at Ichabod Crane from October 14–17! Each building joined in on the fun with themed days — from Socktober to Rider Pride Day on Friday, when everyone across the district showed their blue and white spirit! 💙🤍
The week wraps up with two Rider favorites — the High School Pep Rally and the Homecoming Football Game at 7 p.m. tonight (Friday, Oct. 17)!
Come cheer on our Riders in your blue and white, and stay tuned for photos and videos capturing all the Spirit Week excitement!
