Mill Valley Weekly
January 23rd, 2025
Hello Mill Valley Families,
This week we kicked off One Book, One School! We love the theme of Because of the Rabbit which explores friendship, acceptance, growing up and being yourself. We hope you are having fun reading chapters 1-4 with your student this week. Remember, you can also listen to our very own MV staff members read each chapter HERE.
Starting Monday, January 27th, we will be reading the weekly trivia questions during morning announcements. Winners from each grade level will be announced during Tuesday morning announcements and will come to the office to claim their prize!
Sincerely,
Allyce & Julie
Principals
REMINDER...tomorrow, Friday, January 24th, there is NO SCHOOL for students.
Teachers will be engaged in professional development.

One Book, One School (OBOS)
Because of the Rabbit
- Linked HERE is a schedule of the readings each week. The Monday following a week of reading, there will be trivia questions for students to answer at school!
- Mill Valley Staff members recorded each chapter for students to listen to if that option works better for your family! The audio recordings are provided in this link.
Thank you in advance for participating in this fun all school activity!
Special THANK YOU to the PTO for funding the purchase of the books for each student.
Has your student been out sick? Don't forget to ask for a doctor's note
Illnesses or appointments with medical documentation (doctor's note) are exempt from the 10-day total. If your child has been out sick and you visited the doctor, please submit a doctor's note to the office. We can then change the absence code from ILL (illness) to DRX (doctor excused).
Upcoming Friendship Parties 2/14
As you know, we have transitioned away from using edible treats for birthdays school-wide. With Valentine’s Day approaching, we want to remind everyone that this will also apply to Valentine’s Day celebrations. Food-based items are not allowed for the Valentine exchange. There are many non-food based options such as bouncy balls, glow sticks, slime, etc. Any edible treats brought to school will be sent back home. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation!
You will receive more specific communication from your child(ren)'s teacher.
2024-2025 Family Communication Plan
This year, classroom teachers will be teaching with two new resources! This will be an adjustment for staff, students, and parents/caregivers. We want to be sure to offer multiple opportunities to keep families engaged and learning alongside our staff and students.
Each month, there will be a short recorded presentation shared with you that answers a focus question. The videos will cover various curriculum topics. Please see the outline below. These videos will be linked in school newsletters and posted on the Muskego-Norway Teaching and Learning website.
The December topic focuses on literacy instruction, including strategies and ideas for supporting literacy development at home.
2025-26 Incoming 4K Student and Caregiver Open House
Please join us on April 2nd anytime between 5:30-7:00 PM at Bay Lane Elementary for our 4K Student and Caregiver Open House. When you arrive, be sure to grab a Student Bingo Card that will lead you and your child through our 4K classrooms. Each classroom will be open with a designated activity for students to participate in. During the open house, students and caregivers will have an opportunity to learn more about math, literacy, fine motor, music/movement and social skills. It should take approximately 30-45 minutes to visit all the planned activities. There will be classroom teachers and administrators available to provide information and answer general questions you might have. More information regarding 4K and registration can be found on our district website.
