Homeschooling With Heart
September 8: Real Homeschooling
Welcome back to Homeschooling With Heart! We are so excited to reconnect with our parent community for a year of learning together!
Have you ever found yourself wondering how other homeschooling families navigate their unique circumstances and situations? A lot of what we know about homeschooling comes from our own experiences, but we can also learn a lot from the knowledge of others. From homeschooling children of different ages to balancing work and teaching, this Homeschooling With Heart will have something for everyone.
Join us as we hear from veteran homeschooling parents who are eager to share what they’ve learned over the years: classroom management strategies, incorporating centers, establishing routines, and more! We are looking forward to seeing you all. Bring your questions!

IXL Challenge
It is time to get going on this year's IXL Challenge! Your students have the opportunity to complete monthly challenges by answering questions on the IXL platform and collecting a pennant and buttons for each month. At the end of the year, the student who answers the most questions will earn a final reward. The challenge begins by logging into IXL, going to the Arena, and completing the 2 diagnostic exams (LA and Math). These should take about 45 minutes each and can be done on different days. Spreading an exam out over multiple days can create extra work for the student. IXL is an adaptive platform that identifies gaps in your students' learning and delivers content to strengthen those areas of need. While tempting to skip the diagnostics, this is a very beneficial part in pinpointing your students' levels and helping them get the most out of this fantastic program.

Heartland Heights - Stories to Inspire
Raelynn Qualley
Raelynn and her heifer, Mocha, spent the first weekend of March at their very first competition in Tulare. They won Overall Champion for the Costume Contest and 6th Place out of 16 contestants for the Fall Heifer Group Class at the Western Classic Jr. Dairy Show.
Raelynn had put in so much work to prepare for this show, spending 4 to 5 days and approximately 15-20 hours a week working with her heifer. She spent months learning how to take care of her calf, which included learning how to tie specific knots to secure her calf and properly place her halter on, feeding amounts, grooming requirements, and more! She was one of the youngest contestants this weekend and her calf was one of the younger calves as well; but Raelynn did not let that intimidate her and stayed calm and confident throughout her competitions!
