Parent Newsletter - October 17, 2025
From the Principal's Desk
Dear Young Elementary Families,
We would like to take a moment to share some important information about our school’s participation in the Title I program.
What is Title I?
Title I is a federal program that provides funding to schools to help all children meet high academic standards. The goal of Title I is to ensure every student receives the support needed to succeed academically.
Why is Young Elementary a Title I School?
Young Elementary qualifies as a Title I school based on the percentage of students who receive free and reduced lunch. This funding allows us to provide additional resources and support to strengthen student learning and achievement.
How Does Title I Help Our School?
With Title I funding, we are able to provide:
-
Intervention teachers and instructional support
-
Reading and math programs
-
Professional development for teachers
-
Family engagement nights and resources
Our School Goals for This Year:
-
Improve reading comprehension at every grade level
-
Strengthen math problem-solving skills
-
Support student engagement and social-emotional learning
How Can Parents Be Involved?
We believe that strong partnerships between school and home make a difference! Parents can:
-
Attend family events and workshops
-
Volunteer at school events and activities
-
Stay connected with teachers about your child’s progress
Your Rights as a Parent:
As a parent, you have the right to:
-
Request information about your child’s teacher’s qualifications
-
Be informed if your child is taught for more than four weeks by a teacher who is not certified in that subject area
-
Share feedback on how Title I funds are used at Young Elementary
We value your partnership and involvement in your child’s education. To learn more about our Title I program and how you can be involved, please join us for our Parent Training and Information Night on Thursday, October 24 at 4:30 p.m. before the Fall Festival in the cafeteria.
Thank you for your continued support in helping every student at Young Elementary succeed!
With Eagle Pride,
Andrew Hohman

Shoes That Fit Fundraiser
A message from Coach Harrison!
Help us ensure every child comes to school with confidence and comfort! Many students in our community lack properly fitting shoes, which impacts their ability to learn, play, and thrive. By supporting our Shoes That Fit Fundraiser, you’ll provide new, well-fitting shoes to children who need them most. Together, we can make sure no child is held back by something as simple as shoes.
Every dollar makes a difference—thank you for helping us change lives, one pair at a time!

Counselor's Corner
Character Trait of the Month
In Counseling Lessons This Week...
In addition to finishing up our lessons on bullying prevention, we will focus on how to show compassion and caring to others!
3rd grade: We will dive into what compassion and caring really looks like and sounds like. We will deconstruct a scenario and determine if and how a student is showing compassion to his classmate. They will also get a chance to identify how they would show compassion in a given situation.
4th grade: Students will continue identifying bullying situations and how to avoid being a “bystander” to bullying.
5th grade: We will practice looking at situations from different perspectives and learn how to disagree respectfully. Students will complete a partner activity where they practice defending a given opinion in a respectful manner.
