Field Day- Note from Mrs. Lesser

I am excited to announce this year's Field Day Theme will be ... Core Creek Cubs Field Day! Field Day will be held on Friday May 15th! Each class will be divided into 4 teams! Each team will represent a “Cub” by wearing: Black Cubs-Charcoal, Grizzly Cubs-Brown, Polar Cubs-White, Sun Cubs-Gold. Students will be sent home with a shirt order form at the end of the month. Their team will be circled on the form. More information will be sent out in April.

P.E. Reminder

A reminder to please send your child to school in sneakers on PE Days. This is the safety way for them to fully participate in all the fun activities we have in Physical Education class. Sneakers are also great for safe feet on the playground during recess!

Note from PTO Below

We are excited to announce that the Book Fair will take place during library sessions during the week of March 23rd . Your child will attend the book fair during their assigned library class (see schedule below). We will also be hosting a family Book Fair night on Wednesday, 3/25 from 6pm-8pm during the Science Fair. We encourage children to have back-up choices if a book they want is no longer available.

You can visit our Scholastic Book Fair Homepage by visiting the website. We highly recommend setting up an E-Wallet for your student(s) via the above website as a form of payment. If an EWallet is not set up, please send cash for your student(s) and make sure you include sales tax in your calculations. We do not accept CHECK payments. On the Family Book Fair Night, both credit and debit cards will also be accepted as well. • To calculate tax, multiply your purchase by 1.06 to get the total amount due. Cellphones & Smartwatches

We are seeing an increase in students using their cellphones and smartwatches to communicate with families during the day. If a parent or guardian needs to communicate a message to their child, please email the teacher or call the main office at 215-809-6390.

Please see the information below from our District Student Handbook regarding cellphones and smartwatches.

We permit students to have cell phones in school. However, there are specific guidelines your student must follow:

  • Students must turn off their cell phones and smartwatches when they arrive to school.
  • Phones and smartwatches are not to be visible during normal school hours (backpack, etc.).

Students in violation of these guidelines may have their electronic devices including cell phones and smart watches confiscated and returned at the end of the day. A second offense may result in confiscation and a parent must pick up the electronic device. For the protection and avoidance of electronic devices being lost/stolen, we recommend that students do not bring any type of electronic device to school.

Parent/Guardian Review of Google Documents

I encourage all parents to consistently review your child's Google documents from your child's laptop, including Google Slides and Google Docs. We have seen an increase in incidents of students misusing these apps to send inappropriate messages to other students through the sharing of these documents.

You can access the links to these apps from your child's Clever homepage when they open the internet browser.

Attendance Attendance

Attendance Reminders

Regular school attendance is important for your child’s learning and success. All students of compulsory school age (ages 6–18) are expected to attend school each day unless an absence is excused.

Please note:

  • Absences are marked unexcused until an excuse note is provided

  • Absences may be excused by sending a handwritten note, doctor's note, emailing your child’s teacher, or submitting the absence through the School Messenger app

  • Excused absences include illness, medical appointments, religious observances, and other approved reasons

  • Students are responsible for making up missed work after an excused absence

  • Families will receive a letter after 10 total absences (both excused and unexcused) have accumulated.

Unexcused absences may lead to truancy notifications and required meetings if attendance concerns continue. School Messenger is also used to share important updates, attendance messages, and weather-related information.

If you have questions about attendance, please contact the main office at 215-809-6390.

Vacation Request Form

Families may request approval for students to be excused from school to participate in an educational trip or tour that is not sponsored by the school. Requests must be submitted in writing to the building principal at least five school days in advance (except in emergencies).

Please note:

  • Trips are not approved during the first 10 school days or during PSSA testing for Grades 3–4

  • A maximum of five school days per school year may be approved

  • Make-up work is the student’s responsibility, and not all classroom instruction can be recreated.

Families will be notified if a request is denied. For questions, please call the main office at 215-809-6390.

You can now report your child’s absence in advance of the official start of the school day using any of these three methods:

  • Use the SafeArrival SchoolMessenger website. The first time you use the website, select SIGN UP to create your account. Select Attendance and then Report an Absence.
  • You can call 1-888-256-5072 to report an absence to the SafeArrival system.
  • While we strongly encourage parents and guardians to use SafeArrival, hand-delivered notes and phone calls to the Main Office will still be accepted for absences.

Your username and password are the same whether you use the mobile app or the website. You must register your account using the email address on file with Neshaminy.
