Director's Message
Dear Parents and Students,
As we near the end of winter, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on the great progress we've made here at Ash St. Center. This season has been a time of academic growth and significant strides in improving behaviors. We have focused on developing critical social skills that are essential for a successful transition back to a less restrictive environment. Our students have truly embraced the process, and we’re seeing wonderful results.
Throughout the winter, students have actively participated in PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) activities, as well as classroom social-emotional learning activities. They also engaged in meaningful celebrations for Black History Month, enhancing both their academic and social development.
Looking ahead, we are excited for the spring as we prepare for important state testing, including
the Georgia Milestones and the Georgia Alternate Assessment. In addition to academic progress,
students will continue to benefit from therapeutic supports such as music, art, equine and animal-assisted therapy.
Finally, we are thrilled to be seeing several students on track for transitioning back to their home
schools at the end of the semester. This is a true testament to their hard work and resilience.
Thank you for your continued support as we work together to ensure each student’s success.
We look forward to the opportunities and growth that the spring semester will bring!
Warm regards,
Derrick Gilchrist
