West Shore Elementary
APRIL 2022
MESSAGE FROM PRINCIPAL YEASTER
Hi West Shore Families!
Welcome back from Spring Break! I hope that everyone had a relaxing break and a chance to spend time with loved ones. Spring is definitely in the air at West Shore, and with spring comes many puddles and mud. It may be a good idea to send an extra pair of clothes to school with your child in his/her backpack. The puddles are just too exciting to pass up at recess time.
We have a busy month ahead of us with the wrap-up of third marking period and parent-teacher conferences on April 13th. Teachers have communicated information regarding conferences in their classroom emails, please reach out to your child's teacher if you have specific questions.
The PTO has also sponsored the animal program called Supe's Exotic Animals to present the last week of April. We will take some pictures to include in the May newsletter. Thank you to the PTO for sponsoring this event for our students.
Enjoy all of the wonderful changes that the month of April brings. "Spring: a lovely reminder of how beautiful change can be." -Anonymous

Dimes for Diapers Fundraiser
Hello Lake Fenton families! This year, we are excited to take part in the Dimes for Diapers fundraising event during the month of April. Dimes for Diapers has a commitment to provide 1 million diapers a year to 20 non-profit agencies throughout Genesee County. We will begin our fundraiser on Monday, April 4th, and we will be collecting donations in any monetary form from April 4th to April 29th. The classroom that collects the most, of at least $250, will receive a gift card to host a pizza party in their classroom. Also, the top three schools that raise the most money will be on TV and will receive a trophy. West Shore, Torrey Hill, and our Preschool program are participating in this event, and each building will have its own winning classroom.
West Shore Travels Around the World!
During the month of March, Y5 - 2nd grade traveled to four different continents and countless countries! Anytime a classroom was exposed to another a tradition, holiday, animal, product or country their "trip" was marked with their classroom plane. March has been an exciting time for West Shore Elementary!

Morning Drop-Off/ Afternoon Pick-Up
Thank you for all of your patience as we worked to get our drop-off lane running smoothly each morning. Just a couple reminders to help it continue to go well. Please make sure your child is ready to hop out of the car once you are stopped in the drop-off zone, so that way we can keep the line running as efficiently as possible. We are now wrapping up the drop off lane around 8:35, so please make sure you are arriving to the school on time. Per our student handbook, any student not in their classroom at 8:38 will be marked tardy. We are keeping a close eye on all cars who are waiting in the line to drop off before this time. We appreciate all of your help with this!
We have now started electronically writing down names for the pick-up lane. This new procedure has made our pickup lane move a bit faster. We are now finishing up with pick-up close to 4:05. Please plan to make sure you arrive before this time to pick-up your student.
