Please Welcome Mr. Scot Montoya!
Dear Caldwell Families,
I am pleased to welcome Mr. Scot Montoya as the District's new Superintendent. Following the recent approval of his contract, he will officially assume the role on July 1, 2026.
Mr. Montoya currently serves as Principal of Mountain View High School in the West Ada School District, where he leads the largest high school in the state. He oversees a team of 168 teachers and staff. In this administrative role, he supports a wide range of student opportunities, including AVID, Career Technical Education (CTE), and college and career readiness programs. He also contributes to multiple district-level leadership committees.
He brings a wealth of experience from previous roles as a middle school principal, also in the West Ada School District, and from his earlier experience as a teacher and coach in the Emmett and Cascade School Districts. Mr. Montoya holds an Education Specialist degree, a master’s degree in Educational Leadership, and a bachelor’s degree in Technology and Career Technical Education.
We look forward to his leadership and vision as he joins the Caldwell School District community.

HIGH SCHOOL SPOTLIGHT
Caldwell High School Freshmen Showcase Passion Projects
The Caldwell High School freshmen class recently showcased the impressive work they’ve been developing since January through their Passion Projects. Students researched real-world community issues, explored their causes and impacts, and presented thoughtful, solution-focused ideas.
Project topics reflected a wide range of community concerns, including immigration issues, teen mental health, homelessness, the housing crisis, school safety, recreation opportunities for teens, field maintenance, teacher shortages, and equine therapy for autism.
We are incredibly proud of the dedication, creativity, and insight these students demonstrated throughout the process. A special thank you to the community members who attended to support, listen, and encourage our students—your presence made this experience even more meaningful!

STEM SPOTLIGHT
Caldwell Science Educators Selected for Prestigious National Leadership Summit
A team of science educators and district leaders from Caldwell was recently selected to attend the prestigious Smithsonian Science Education Leadership Summit in Philadelphia. This national event brings together education leaders from across the country to collaborate on important challenges in STEM education.
Our Caldwell science educators were the only team from Idaho selected to attend—and the first from the state in the summit’s 10-year history. This recognition highlights the district’s commitment to advancing science education and supporting both educators and students.
While at the summit, the Caldwell team focused on strategies to recruit and retain highly qualified science educators—an essential part of ensuring strong, consistent STEM learning opportunities for all students. They worked alongside national experts to explore innovative ways to support teachers, strengthen professional communities, and expand partnerships that enhance science education.
Our STEM team looks forward to sharing new ideas and strategies to strengthen science programs and continue building a connected, high-quality learning experience for all students.

ELEMENTARY SPOTLIGHT
Bringing Music to Life: Wilson Students in Action
Wilson Elementary students have been actively engaging in music both in and out of the classroom. Recently, 3rd- and 4th-grade students attended the Boise Philharmonic at Northwest Nazarene University, where they experienced a live orchestra and learned more about the instruments and musicians behind the performance.
Wilson also hosted its 1st- and 3rd-grade music concert at Caldwell High School. First graders performed songs from “My Favorite Things,” while third graders shared pieces inspired by “When I Grow Up,” highlighting their creativity and future aspirations. The 3rd- and 4th-grade choir also performed, showcasing their continued growth and dedication.
In addition, we are proud to recognize Wilson students who were selected for the All-State Choir—an impressive accomplishment that reflects their talent and commitment to music.

SAFETY UPDATE
Courtesy of the Caldwell Police Department
Spring weather can change quickly, bringing sudden rain showers that make roads more dangerous than they appear. Even light rain can reduce traction, so it’s important to adjust your driving habits:
- Roads are often slickest during the first 10–15 minutes of rainfall, as oil rises to the surface.
- Slow down and avoid sudden acceleration or hard braking.
- Allow extra following distance, as stopping takes longer on wet roads.
- Turn on your headlights anytime it’s raining to improve visibility.
- Be cautious of hydroplaning—if it occurs, remain calm, keep a steady grip on the wheel, and avoid slamming the brakes.
- Steer clear of standing water, as puddles may hide hazards or increase the risk of hydroplaning.
A little extra caution during spring showers can go a long way in keeping you and your family safe on the road.
