Ahoy Families!
October 23, 2026
To lead ALL students to college, career, and civic readiness.
Hi Pirate Family! 🏴☠️
Fall is definitely here! 🍂 The leaves are changing into beautiful colors, and the nights are getting pretty chilly!
Thank you to all the families who came out for Parent-Teacher Conferences. We hope you left with a better understanding of your child's grade-level expectations, classroom routines, and learning experiences.
Now that our beginning-of-the-year assessments are complete, Pirate Time is in full swing! Pirate Time is a 30-minute block when no new instruction is introduced. Instead, students are divided into small groups to target specific areas of need and provide additional support. These groups will continue to change as we use curriculum and classroom assessment data to guide instruction and support the growth of all our lil Pirates!
Next week, our Arrr-Some third graders will take the Fall Ohio State Tests (OST) in English Language Arts (ELA) and mathematics. If you have a third grader, please make sure they arrive at school on time, get a good night's rest, and come ready to do their best. Most importantly, fill their tanks with plenty of positive affirmations and encouragement! Remind them that they are capable, prepared, and ready to show what they know. We believe in our lil Pirates! 🏴☠️
LifeWise Update ~
LifeWise programming has begun for participating students at CLES. Families with questions regarding enrollment, unenrollment, or participation in the LifeWise program should contact Kanda Benner, LifeWise Program Director, at kandabenner@lifewise.org.
Please note that the CLES Office is unable to assist families with enrollment or unenrollment in the LifeWise program. All questions or requests related to participation should be directed to LifeWise.

Howdy Families!
We are in the middle of our Pirate Character word-of-the-month - COMMUNICATION. Students have been surprised that only about 7% of our face-to-face, non-business communication is represented with words. Tone of voice and body language account for the other 93%. It's not a surprise we sometimes misunderstand each other.
While the upcoming holidays bring plenty of joy and excitement, the pressure to always feel "on" can be exhausting. To help your family ease the stress and enjoy the season at your own pace, here are a couple helpful resources:
MH Support During the Holidays
Call or text 988 for free, confidential support available 24/7 if you are feeling overwhelmed, sad, or in crisis.
Month-long awareness: National Book Month & Adopt a Shelter Dog Month
Daily Observance: October 27 is National Black Cat Day
As always, please reach out if you have needs, questions, or concerns.

2026-2027 CLLSD Household Income Form
Help Our District and Families - Complete the 2026–2027 Household Income Information Survey
Parents and guardians are encouraged to complete and return the 2026–2027 Household Income Information Survey. While completing the survey is completely voluntary, the information collected may help our district qualify for important state and local programs that provide additional resources and support for our students and schools.
Completing the survey may also benefit families who could qualify for free or reduced school fees and other assistance.
Your participation matters! Please take a few minutes to complete and return the survey. Every response helps our district better serve our students and families.
