Message from Nicole Pease, Principal

Hello DCS Families, I hope you have had a great week! It has been a busy one at DCS! Grades 3/4/5 have been taking the NHSAS assessments and are working so hard! Grade 5 has a bonus assessment in Science which we started yesterday. Next week brings MAP testing, which all students will take. As I have shared, students showed strong growth from fall to winter and we are working to ensure that continues. As a "reward" for giving their best effort, students will get to choose to duct tape me to a wall or toss water balloons at me. They deserve a big event for all these assessments!

We had the Ashuelot Concerts yesterday and students were a great audience to the classical music and its connection to friendship. We rounded out the week with the Walk to School this morning.

We have been getting the Raven Puppet ready for the Children and the Arts Parade! This has been a tremendous community effort-Kristen Garland and the 3rd graders did the papier mache and painting of the puppet, Hazel's mom sewed the wings, and all students added their hand printed "feathers" to the wings. Irving's and Char's dads will be helping to carry the puppet, with lots of student assistance. It will be quite an event! Please join us at PES around 11:45am. Please wear your DCS shirts! Be sure to stop by DiVINE on Main's windows and see the beautiful bird creations. Thanks to staff that installed the artwork!

Summer Learning Registration

Good Afternoon,

It is time to register your child for Summer Learning. Please use the following link to sign your elementary child(dren) up. An early registration will ensure that we have the staff and resources to host a robust summer learning program. A separate email will be sent later in the month to register middle and high school students for Summer Academy.

Explore and Expand (all schools) and Title 1 (for AES, PES, Pierce and GES) will begin on July 9th and run through August 1st. The daily schedule for each program is 9 - 12 Tuesday through Thursday. MS Summer Academy (for all rising 5th graders) begins on July 8th and runs through August 1st. MS Summer Academy is four days a week from 8am - 12:15pm. A more detailed description of summer learning opportunities can be found in the registration form.

Similar to last year, all summer programming is free.

Please reach out with any questions!

Best,

Amy Janoch and Kathie Morrocco
