Soaring Eagles Parent Advisory Council meetings
The Soaring Eagles Parent Advisory Council is an opportunity for parents to come and chat with Mrs. Helt about upcoming events, concerns, ideas, etc to continue to move Clyde Erwin forward. There is typically no set agenda but more of a free flowing conversation about hot topics. Join if you can. Dates will be shared on Dojo as well as in the weekly calendar above.
Tidbits to share from Mrs. Helt
What on earth is an IRP or IMP?
During parent conferences and through communication with your childs teacher, you may have questions about the term MTSS or what an IRP or IMP is. The graphic below is offered to provide some guidance. And IRP is an individualized Reading Plan for those student who have a RED composite score for their BOY Amplify assessments. And IMP is an individualized Math Plan for those students have a RED composite for the BOY Ready Inform assessments. We idenify these students using these forms so we are able to track their progress through additional supports to ensure we are bridging those gaps.
Behaviors and attendance are addressed through what they call an SSP - Student Success Plan. For those students with addressed behaiors, we offer support through a targeted behavior plan specifically designed to support them while at school.
For attendance, we need your help as parents and guardians. Our students are not responsible for getting themselves to school. If an attendance plan is created, we will be reaching out to discuss how we can support getting them to school on time and removing any barriers that are within our control.
If you have any continued questions, please do not hesitate to reach out.
Fieldtrips and fees
Students will not be able to pay for and attend fieldtrips (other than the Arts fieldtrips) if their $25 school fee is unpaid. If you are in need of a fee waiver, please reach out to Mrs. Reese, Mrs. Helt, or Mrs. Stacie and we can send one home.
Attendace and tardies
It is so very important for our Eagles to be with us everyday unless they cannot be fever or medication free for illnesses. Even missing a day here and there can be rough on our students. Please have them on time daily (arrival is from 7:15-7:45) through the end of the day (2:40). We understand that there are times that are unavoidable to be missed; however please refrain from taking days off during the academic year. To assist in planning time away, please see the below graphic. Note - only those days away for approved reasons (noted in handbook) will be considered for an excused absence. Sending a note in saying why they are out does not automatically excuse the day.
Testing news from Mrs. Adams
November is almost here, and we have a few important reminders as we prepare for NC Check-Ins and a busy month of learning!
NC Check-Ins
Once the NC Check-In testing window has closed, student scores will be available in the Infinite Campus Parent and Student Portals. I will send a message through ClassDojo as soon as scores have populated.
Your child's teacher is always happy to discuss your student's results, growth, and level of effort during the assessment. However, please note that teachers are not permitted to share test-specific information or review students' scratch paper, as these materials are considered secure testing content.
Testing Day Reminders
- Please make every effort to have your child arrive at school on time.
- Testing cannot be postponed for students who arrive late.
- Encourage your child to take their time, show their work, and do their very best.
A Little Extra Motivation!
Students who demonstrate strong effort by showing their work during the assessment will have an opportunity to participate in a special reward with Mrs. Adams and Mrs. Helt. We think it's going to be pretty awesome! A quick reminder from home to try their best can go a long way.
Thank you for partnering with us to support your child's success. We appreciate all you do for our Eagles!
Online program expectations
We would like to share our district expectations for i-Ready and Lexia so that you can help support your child's academic success.
Students are provided 2-3 hours each week during the school day to work on these programs and complete their weekly requirements. We encourage all students to use this time wisely, as ample time is provided throughout the week to meet district expectations.
i-Ready Requirements
Grades K-2
- 30 minutes per week
- Pass 2 lessons with a score of 70% or higher
Grades 3-5
- 45 minutes per week
- Pass 2 lessons with a score of 70% or higher
Lexia Requirements
For Lexia, each student has an individualized goal based on their diagnostic assessment results. Rather than focusing on minutes, students are expected to complete a designated number of units each week. These goals vary by student and are adjusted according to individual needs.
Accessing i-Ready and Lexia at Home
Students may access both i-Ready and Lexia from home using a tablet, iPad, laptop, or desktop computer through Clever.
Clever Website:
https://www.clever.com/
If you need your child's login information, please contact your child's teacher.
Additional Support Opportunities
Students in grades 2-5 who have not met their weekly i-Ready or Lexia requirements will have an additional opportunity to work toward their goals during a working lunch with Mrs. Adams. Students may be invited on Thursdays and Fridays to eat lunch while completing their required lessons or units.
Technology Devices
Student devices will not be sent home, as there are no homework assignments that require the use of a school-issued device. Families wishing to access i-Ready or Lexia from home may do so using a personal device.
We appreciate your partnership in encouraging students to stay focused and make the most of the instructional time provided during the school day. With consistent effort at school and support at home, students can successfully meet these important district expectations.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out.
Thank you for your continued support.

Family resources and fun things to do
🦅 All items below are for reference and will be included for the entire year 🦅
Car rider line arrival processes
For morning arrival, we will utilize one lane as we have this past year. Cars must stop prior to the last cone and only move forward to the marked spots (big orange cones) once the staff arrive at 7:15 to wave you on. Students will unload from the passanger side of the vehicles and move directly towards the building by the cafe. Parents are not to get out of vehicles at any point.
If you would like to walk them to the building for arrival, you must park in the front of the school and follow the procedures listed below. Parents are not permitted in the building for drop off in the morning from 7:14-7:45.
If you must park to walk to the office during arrival, please pull into the parking spots near the playground fence and walk directly to the office using the breezeway. If you park in the other parking spots, you must walk towards the building nearest the cafe to cross using the crosswalk. This is for arrival and dismissal. We will not delay the car rider process for visitors to campus.
Car rider line dismissal processes
See below for a short presentation with specifics about the car rider process for the afternoon. Mrs. Baker calls for students on the walkie talkie after checking your car rider tag and Mrs. Helt will wave you on to your cone. Students will safely and quickly get to vehicles.
Same parking rules as above for arrival. If you must go to the office during dismissal times, you must either park in the spots nearest the playground fence or park elsewhere and use the crosswalk near the cafeteria. We will not delay the dismissal process for visitors to campus.
Walk up parents - morning drop off and pick up
Parents must park in the marked parking lot and walk to the front of the building. Mrs. Adams will greet you after walking across the cross walk and safely to the gate.
