Message from the Administration
Dear SJH Families,
As we move further into the school year, one of the most important ways parents can support student success is by making sure their child arrives at school on time each day. Consistent attendance and punctuality help students stay connected to learning, build positive habits, and avoid missing valuable instruction at the start of class.
If your child is struggling academically, parent-teacher conferences are an important opportunity to work together. These conversations help us identify challenges, celebrate strengths, and create a plan to support your child's success. We encourage you to attend conferences and stay connected with your child's teachers throughout the year.

Career Fair - Volunteers Needed!
On Wednesday, Sept. 30th SJH will be presenting a career fair for the 7th grade College and Career Awareness (CCA) classes. We are inviting parents, relatives, or neighbors of our 7th grade students to participate in our Career Fair as guest speakers. Speakers would share approx. 8 min of information about their career field to small groups of students. Presentations would repeat 4-5 times during 1st and 3rd class periods. Each class period has a total of approx. 125 students. 1st period class is 10:50 -11:40 AM, and 3rd period class is 1:15 - 2:05 PM.
If you would like to volunteer, there are sign up sheets in the office (or one can be emailed to you). If you have questions, please email Ms. Natalee Warrick at nflynn@dsdmail.net.
After-School Math Support
This group has started, and will be held every Wednesday and Thursday after school from 3:00-3:45 in room 160. No Group meeting this Wednesday, September 16 and Thursday, September 17 because of Parent Teacher Conferences.
Bus Drivers Needed!
There is a big need for Bus Drivers this year all over the Davis County School District. If you (or someone you know) is interested, please click HERE to apply.
"Say BOO to the FLU" vaccinations
We are partnering with Community Nursing Services this year for the "Say Boo to the Flu" program. They will be providing vaccines for Flu, as well as Gardasil, Meningococcal and Tdap vaccines. They will be here on Wednesday, September 16th from 3:30 - 5:30 PM. They will bill insurance for all immunizations. For those without insurance, the cost will be $14 per child vaccination and $35 per adult flu vaccination (other vaccine prices will vary). This is happening on the first night of Parent Teacher Conferences, so stop by after talking with your student's teachers!
DROP OFF & PICK UP
Reminder: As students are being dropped off in the morning and picked up in the afternoon, it's important to remember that the lane closest to the curb is for BUSES ONLY! Cars coming in to the front parking lot need to stay in the left lane. Please only let you student(s) exit the vehicles at the crosswalks and not cross between cars in the parking lot. Your students' safety is our top concern, so we want them to get in the building safely. If students are being dropped off along the front road (2000 W), please remind them to stay on the sidewalk until they get to the crosswalks. Refer to the picture below for example.
Also, drivers - please be courteous of personal property around the school and DO NOT block driveways or park in turning lanes! Let's work together to keep our neighborhood a safe place to drive around.
PICTURE RETAKES!
School Pictures have been taken, but if your student missed them, our makeup picture day is October 9th. Students will receive a student ID card when they get their picture taken. We have order forms in the office with purchase instructions. Parents are welcome to come in and grab a flyer or have your student bring one home. You can order pictures online by going to Bell Photography's website (bellphoto.com) and use our school's purchase code "SyracuseJRFall26".

Community Council
We are seeking candidates to serve on the Syracuse Junior High School Community Council (SCC) for the upcoming term.
The School Community Council plays an important role in supporting student achievement. Council members help review academic goals and determine how School LAND Trust funds are used to support learning and academic success at SJH. This year, our school received $147,312.97 in School LAND Trust funding.
We encourage interested parents, guardians, and eligible employees to consider serving on the council. Membership is a great way to be involved in the school community and contribute to decisions that impact students.
