Valedictorian & Salutatorian Valedictorian & Salutatorian

Valedictorian - Ismael Alagic

From School Counselor Ms. Naomi Mejia:

Ismail Alagic is an exceptional student whose academic excellence, dedication, and character have distinguished him throughout his time at Chelsea High School. He has consistently demonstrated an unwavering commitment to his education, setting high standards for himself and meeting them with determination, discipline, and humility.

Known for his strong work ethic and quiet leadership, Ismail approaches every challenge with focus and determination. He is the type of student who not only strives for his own success but also takes the time to support those around him. One of the most notable examples of this occurred while he was enrolled in AP Biology. Recognizing that some of his classmates were struggling with the rigor of the course, Ismail took the initiative to create and lead AP Biology tutoring sessions. Through these sessions, he generously shared his knowledge, helped students better understand complex concepts, and provided encouragement to those who needed additional support. His willingness to invest his time in the success of others reflects both his leadership and his genuine care for his peers.

Beyond his impressive academic achievements, Ismail is admired for his integrity, kindness, and sense of responsibility. He carries himself with humility and treats everyone with respect, making a positive impact on the school community through both his actions and his example.

Ismail's accomplishments are the result of years of hard work, resilience, and dedication. It has been rewarding to watch him grow into a confident and accomplished young man who is well prepared for the opportunities that lie ahead. He leaves Chelsea High School having made a lasting impact on his peers and teachers. He has earned admission to University of Massachusetts Amherst, where he will continue to grow as a scholar and leader and I have no doubt that he will continue to achieve great things in the years to come.

Salutatorian - Maria Montoya Lara

From School Counselor Ms. Rachael Whitney:

From the day she arrived at Chelsea High School less than three years ago, Maria Montoya Lara has made a lasting and meaningful impact on our school community through her leadership, outstanding character, academic excellence, and infectious smile. Maria not only adapted to a new country and school seamlessly, but she is graduating with an outstanding 4.77 GPA. Beyond her remarkable academic achievements, Maria is a leader, role model, and source of strength for everyone around her. This is shown through her work as one of the founding members of the Impact Club, her volunteer work through NHS, her involvement with La Vida Scholars, and her deep commitment to her church. Additionally, Maria is a core member of the student advisory council.

Somehow on top of everything, Maria has found the time to work a part-time job, stay incredibly close with her siblings (Maria is a triplet!) and mom, and develop deep friendships. Her resilience, determination, and unwavering commitment to her dream of becoming a cardiac surgeon have inspired everyone who has been lucky enough to have the opportunity to know her. We can’t wait to see everything Maria accomplishes as she starts her journey at Middlebury College in the fall and we will miss her so much. Maria embodies the very best of Chelsea High School, and we are proud to celebrate her accomplishments and bright future today.
