Unidos 2025 Un Tiempo para Recordar / A Time To Remember
Unidos Club Celebrated Latin Heritage Proviso West High School for the Students and the community March 14, 2025. I am extremely proud to be the Sponsor of the UNIDOS club at Proviso West. Unidos is one of the largest clubs at the school, it traces the Latino culture of the Iberian Peninsula, Mexico, Central & South America with a blend of African rhythm & culture. Unidos club is involved in multiple activities in and out of school which include Promoting Latin Heritage, Dance, Sports, tutoring students and helping our Community. It positively, supports and provides students with the prospect to excel in academics, the arts, leadership and aiding students in need, offering community service as well as welcoming anyone who wishes to participate in the club.
We began organizing these events to showcase the multiple talents of the Latino Culture at Proviso West that was dormant and still often overlooked, however the heart, soul and talent of the students is vivid and awake. This year our theme was A Time to Remember “Un Tiempo para Recordar” featuring YMCA as our closing theme. Our club is composed of Approximately 45-50 students and counting. These students put all their effort, heart, soul, and dedication to showcase their talents and bring a positive vibe to the school using their wonderful Latin Rhythms. Students work not only on the dances and songs they wish to perform but assist with the building of the set, making it a true and beautiful production for everyone to see.
Students love to participate in these productions and activities, they appreciate all the support provided by their sponsor, AP, families and hope to see more support and acknowledgement from the district.

Ms. Casto's Entrepreneurship Class
On this short project to finish off Q3, students worked in groups to discuss one of the four business models a company might adopt to reflect their innovation needs. Each group presented that model to the class and offered an idea based on that model and information on a particular developing market of their choice. Students were able to implement elements of globalization and the concept of borderless innovation to reach new markets and increase productivity and efficiency.

On Friday, the Proviso West Medical Club, led by Danielle English-Jones, visited Loyola University’s Stitch Medical School in Maywood. Students explored the anatomy/cadaver lab, simulation lab, and pathological specimen lab. The highlight was a dynamic panel of medical students, who shared their experiences and answered questions about medical school. Loyola was an excellent host, providing a valuable and inspiring experience for our future healthcare professionals. A big thank you to Loyola and Danielle for organizing this memorable trip!
Students Envision Their Future Through Vision Boards
Proviso West Students Rock!!!
Students in the Self Love Mentor and Coaching program, completed their vision boards in class before heading off to spring break!!! Creating their vision boards has been a transformative journey for each student, helping them define their personal and academic goals with clarity. By visualizing their future, they’ve gained motivation and a sense of direction, fostering a mindset where positive thinking and possibility thrive. Through self-reflection, they’ve identified what truly matters to them, and through creative expression, they’ve turned their dreams into tangible representations of who they aspire to be. In making thoughtful decisions about their goals, students have learned the importance of aligning their choices with their values. As they revisit their boards, they discover the power of persistence and adaptability, realizing that while goals may evolve, commitment and effort are always key. Ultimately, vision boards have taught them essential life skills—goal setting, self-awareness, creativity, and the strength of a positive mindset—that will guide them in the future ahead. Ms. Ebony Russell from PLCCA is the facilitator of the group.
Proviso Students Attend College Tour During Spring Break
Students from Proviso High School District 209 had the opportunity to participate in a college tour with Introspect Youth Services. Two of the key stops on the trip included Dillard University and Tulane University, institutions known for their rich history, academic excellence, and vibrant campus life. Students toured the campuses, engaged with college representatives, and gained firsthand insight into the college experience. Beyond just a campus visit, this trip helped spark confidence, motivation, and a clearer sense of purpose in our students.
