Dogs and School Property

With the weather getting nice, it is time for a reminder about dogs and Jonesburg Elementary. Only service dogs are allowed inside the building, including the front lobby. In addition, there has been an increased usage of our playground area by kids and dogs. The kids are welcome as long as they are making good choices, but the dogs are using the property as a restroom, which you can imagine creates an unnecessary shoe situation at recess. We appreciate your help in keeping our property clean, safe and sanitary for our students.

JBE Field Trips Are For JBE Students Only

With field trip season approaching we wanted to remind you that JBE Field Trips are for JBE students and their approved adults only. Please do not bring siblings on the field trip. Much like classroom parties, this time is to celebrate and enjoy the student with their class. We appreciate your cooperation.

All parents, staff members and community members are invited to attend! All parents, staff members and community members are invited to attend!

Morning Drop Off Procedures & Handicap Parking

Please do not "park" in the morning drop-off line and get out to walk your student to the door, come talk to staff, etc. If you need to get out of your car, please park and walk up to ensure that the line can continue to move smoothly. If your student tends to take a little longer to unload, please pull up past the powercat so the line will continue to flow safely and smoothly. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation with our efforts to maintain the safety of all riders.

Please DO NOT block the handicapped accessible parking spots. We have several people that need those spots and have been unable to use them because they are blocked.

If you are not the one who picks up your student, please inform your designee of these important procedures.

Recess Temperature Reminder

**Reminder from the handbook**

Recess is scheduled for children to take a break from school studies. Every effort is made for children to have recess outside. All students are expected to go outside for recess as weather permits. Appropriate clothing should be worn according to the weather conditions. If students do not have appropriate clothing, every effort will be given to provide children with clothing from the nurse’s office. A student must have written or a medical excuse for an extended excuse from recess. In the event that weather conditions are not conducive to outside play, children will have an indoor recess period. The guidelines for indoor recess are when outside temperatures are 20 degrees or less or the outside temperature when combined with the wind chill factor of 20 degrees or less. If the heat index is 100 degrees or above, students will remain inside during recess.

Clothes & Shoes Recycling Bin at JBE

We have partnered with USAgain to collect clothes and shoes. This company will pay us 2 cents for every pound collected and will plant a tree (somewhere, not on our property) for every full bin. The bins are located on the southwest corner of our building. We will start spreading the word to the community soon and hope it will help the earth and raise a bit of money for our donation account.
