NES 8/19/24 Family Newsletter
8/19/24

Dear NES Families,
We have successfully completed our first week of the 24-25 school year! Thank you for your patience and understanding as students and staff focused on learning our procedures and routines.
Students successfully completed their first fire drill this week with flying colors! They have been enjoying lunch, recess, specials and hands on learning in many of the classrooms.
We have seen many smiles at the beginning, middle, and end of the day and the happy faces are a joy to see.
IReady Reading and Math Beginning of Year Diagnostics have begun and you will receive information in the upcoming week for FAST and STAR PM1 test dates.
The Rooms communication tool should now be updated and invites will be sent home on Monday.
The excitement for this year is contagious and we are looking forward to another great week at NES. Enjoy your weekend and we will see our students back on Monday morning!
Warm regards,
Mrs. Jessica Lowe, Principal
Mrs. Heather Briney, Assistant Principal

Dismissal
Rainy Day Dismissal
Thank you for your patience during our first week of teaching dismissal procedures and our rainy day dismissal. We know that rainy days slow us down, but as we get more accustomed to the routines and procedures, we hope to see it get quicker each time.
Parents please remember:
- no cell phone use in the parent pick up line
- to be VERY watchful and make sure everyone (students, staff, other vehicles) are clear before moving
- on rainy days, please be respectful of others in line (no changing lanes unless directed by a staff member or duty)
- to pull all the way forward while waiting to be loaded. This allows us to load multiple vehicles at one time in the loop and speeds up the process.
- Students who ride their bike or walk to school may not arrive or enter the gates prior to 7:30AM. Student supervision begins at that time and they may not be on campus prior to that.

Reminders
- Students may not receive DoorDash or food deliveries
- As we establish routines and procedures, lunch visitors will not be allowed until September 3rd. At that time, parents wanting to eat lunch with their student must have their government-issued picture ID with them to visit on campus.
- Students will not be allowed to take food into the classroom to eat. If they bring their breakfast with them, they will be required to eat it in the cafeteria. No open container drinks (coffees, sodas, etc.) will be allowed to be taken back to class. Please make sure your student has plenty of time to finish their meal and drink prior to 8:10AM.
- Students may have their water bottles with them in class.
