Can you believe it is already July? I cannot. June just absolutely flew by. There have been many different changes already and still more to come this summer and in the next summer. CSISD has a phase in plan for the renovations of AMCMS and CSMS over the next two summers, with many of the changes occurring this summer. You can see pictures below of the different works in progress.
With regards to staffing, you will see an updated staffing list. Have have a nice mix of new staff members and some familiar staff members that are in a new role for the coming school year. I am always excited about the opportunity to bring in new ideas, perspectives, and approaches and this year we have some rockstars that are joining the team. We are certainly going to miss our staff members that have moved out to WMS but I think you are going to find that we have built upon their strength with some excellent new staff members.
Amanda and I are headed to the natural air conditioning of Colorado soon. We will spend a few days taking a step back, relaxing, reflecting, and re-energizing. I plan on coming back to College Station rested and refreshed and ready to go in the new school year. I hope that each of you are able to do the same over the next few weeks. Take some time for yourself. Think about the prior school year and then think about the coming school year.
One of the difficult things about schools is that we basically start over each school year but that is also one of the great things because we have a chance at a new and fresh start. Embrace it. Don't feel as if you have to alway do what you have always done... most likely you will get what you have always gotten. It is okay to make the changes you need to make to meet the needs of your students.
Remember that you have the freedom to teach. I want each of you to bring your art of teaching to the table this year. We are going to see some changes this year. The four core areas have some much needed curriculum changes, other areas will being curriculum work this school year, we have schoology to learn and implement in our daily work, we have social emotional learning trainings that will help us to better work with our students and each other, we have school safety trainings, we have T-TESS student growth measures to determine as a school, and whatever adventures the year brings us that we have no idea they are coming.

There isn't anything we cannot accomplish as a school family. I am excited about the future of AMCMS and I hope that each of you are too. It is going to be a fantastic year that will see us have many successes and push our students to their next levels in learning.
