We Remember
We remember today the many lost 24 years ago in New York City, Washington, DC, and in Somerset County, PA. We also remember and thank those who were deployed across the globe as a result of the terrorist attack on our nation on September 11, 2001.
KCSD Announces Partnership with PAWS for People
The Program Begins in October
The Kennett Consolidated School District (KCSD) is proud to announce a new partnership with PAWS for People, a nonprofit animal-assisted therapy organization whose specially trained volunteers bring certified therapy dogs to schools, libraries, hospitals, and elder care facilities to provide comfort and joy.
Through this partnership, KCSD students and staff will have opportunities to interact with therapy dogs during the school day, offering a simple yet powerful way to reduce stress, improve well-being, and create moments of connection. PAWS volunteers and their animals recently met with district principals to begin planning appropriate times and spaces for visits across schools.
Secondary Students to Participate in Focus Groups
We Are Building A New Counseling Program
Our district is currently evaluating the school counseling program to develop a comprehensive plan aligned with our newly approved strategic plan. During in-service week, our school counselors received training on the updated ASCA (American School Counselor Association) National Model and how to conduct a thorough program evaluation.
As part of this evaluation, we will be gathering feedback from stakeholders regarding the overall perception and quality of our counseling services. Surveys and focus groups, facilitated by the Chester County Intermediate Unit, will be used to ensure an objective review.
In the coming weeks, secondary students will be randomly selected to participate in focus groups held at their respective schools. The selection process will be intentional to ensure each group reflects the diversity of our student body while minimizing disruption to instruction.
If you do not wish for your child to participate in these focus groups, please notify your building principal by email no later than Monday, September 15th.
We also encourage you to participate in the upcoming survey and focus group opportunities. More information about dates, times, and formats will be shared soon. Your input is essential in shaping the future of our school counseling program, and please be assured that all feedback collected will remain anonymous.
If you have any questions about the feedback process, next steps, or timeline, please contact Casandra Jones at cljones@kcsd.org. Thank you for your continued support.
Café en Familia: All Are Welcome
First Event is September 25
The District is excited to continue our Café en Familia parent series. Over the years, Café en Familia has become a welcoming space for our Spanish-speaking families to come together, learn about important school-related topics, and support one another. This year, the District has planned five events, all to be held at Mary D. Lang Kindergarten Center, with doors opening at 6:30 PM.
If you plan to attend, please RSVP by emailing Carmen Aja at maja@kcsd.org.

Thanks for Visiting at the Mushroom Festival
It Was a GREAT Weekend!
Thanks to all of the KCSD families who stopped by our booth at the 40th annual Mushroom Festival in Kennett on September 6-7. The weather was (mostly) great and we were thrilled to share news about our continued construction projects at New Garden and Greenwood Elementary Schools and share some fun items to reinforce your pride in your community and your school district. It was a wonderful way to reconnect and meet some new faces, too.

We Are Pleased to Offer an Update
While families can view live webcams of the progression of our construction projects at our website (or by clicking the link at the bottom of every newsletter), we wanted to share a compilation of drone video and images of the exciting progress being made at both locations. Enjoy!
