Thank You Coyote Families!
Our Generosity Project was a huge success--thanks to all of you who contributed. We were able to FILL UP 25 BOXES of non-perishable food items that were given to our own Kohlberg families. It was so heartwarming to see so many students proudly bringing in their gifts to share with others. The families who received the boxes were very appreciative! I also want to thank our teachers for encouraging their students to participate and our student council members for their help in sorting items and filling up boxes. This was a wonderful way to reinforce the value of the month for November--generosity. We truly did make some people's day by giving something away!
December Word of the month--Service
This month we will be talking about lending a hand to help someone else--service. During the month of December there are many opportunities for families to serve others. Encouraging chlidren to serve others with a cheerful attitide is a win-win-win situation! It builds self-efficacy and postive self-esteem in children as they see that they are capable and contributing members of the family. They learn valuable life skills and become more aware of the needs of others. They begin to realize all the work that goes into taking care of a home and family. It also makes them more appreciative of the ways that others serve them. I am not advocating a system of "slave labor" where the children do all of the work. 😊 However, I do believe that we can train our children from a very young age to serve others for their benefit and prepare them to be contributing members of society for the benefit of all of us far into the future.
Here is a link if you would like to watch a video about service with your children, Happy Holidays to you and your family.
Please let me know if there is any way that I can serve your family better.
EPISD Toys for Tots Toy Drive
Here is another way you can practice generosity and service to our community... EPISD is participating in the Toys for Tots Toy Drive, and Kohlberg Elementary School is a drop-off site for new, unwrapped toys.
If you would like to bring a toy for a child, you may send it with your child by this Friday, December 13th or drop it off in the front office.
Thank you!
