Hello Elementary Families! Hello Elementary Families!

Goodbye, September! Hello, October! As we walk around our school, we can see many leaves already changing their colors and covering the ground. Autumn has truly arrived! This is our reminder that the cool weather is on its way—so let’s make sure our children are dressed warmly. Please send them to school with jackets, sweaters, or layers so they can stay comfortable both indoors and outside.

October is always a fun and busy month. We look forward to cooler days, colorful leaves, and all the learning and activities ahead together.

🍁 September/October Highlights:

🎉🎉🎉MPS/WS Spirit Week: Last week, we celebrated our MP/WS Spirit Week, and what a fun week it was! Each day brought smiles, laughter, and lots of school pride. Here’s a quick look back:

  • Monday – Pajama Day 🛏️
We arrived at school in our coziest pajamas, blankets, and stuffed animals—what a comfy way to start the week!

  • Tuesday – Picture Day 📸
Everyone dressed their best and put on their brightest smiles for school pictures.

  • Wednesday – Sports Day ⚽🏀
Students and staff wore their favorite sports clothes and jerseys to show team spirit.

  • Thursday – Class Color Day 🎨
Each grade proudly showed off their class colors—it was wonderful to see the hallways bursting with bright shades.

  • Friday – School Spirit Day 🖤🤍💙
We ended the week strong by wearing our school colors—black, white, and blue—and cheering for our volleyball and soccer players during a lively pep rally!

It was such a joy to see our students come together to celebrate school spirit in so many creative and exciting ways. Thank you, families, for helping your children participate and for supporting our school community!

📖📖📖ASL Storytelling:

We were thrilled to host our first elementary storytelling session led by Lana Pedersen, our ASL coordinator! Lana signed aloud a delightful story from We Don’t Lose Our Class Goldfish by Ryan T. Higgins.

The story follows a classroom’s adventures as they try to keep their class goldfish safe and happy—a fun tale full of humor, teamwork, and caring for our little friends.

Our elementary students were completely engaged, following every sign and gesture, enjoying full ASL access to the story. It was inspiring to see everyone paying such close attention and appreciating the richness of American Sign Language in storytelling.

We look forward to many more ASL storytelling events that bring books, language, and learning to life for our students!

Elementary Family Newsletter: Roblox

Protecting Our Students in the Digital World Protecting Our Students in the Digital World

You may have heard about recent lawsuits involving the online game Roblox. These cases highlight serious concerns about students safety on the platform. For instance, a lawsuit filed in New Jersey alleges that Roblox facilitated the sexual exploitation of a 14-year-old girl. Similarly, a North Carolina mother is suing Roblox, claiming the platform enabled a predator to exploit her 10-year-old daughter by offering virtual currency in exchange for explicit images.

Tips to Protect Your Students Online:

To further safeguard your students while they are online:

  • Set Up Parental Controls: Utilize Roblox's parental control features to monitor and manage your students's activity.

  • Limit Communication: Restrict your students's ability to communicate with strangers and only allow interactions with friends they know in person

  • Monitor Screen Time: Keep track of how much time your students spends on Roblox and ensure it doesn't interfere with other important activities.

  • Educate Your Child: Discuss with your students the importance of not sharing personal information online and encourage them to report any inappropriate behavior.

If you are interested in learning more about how to help protect your students and the Roblox community, please visit their Roblox Help site for detailed guidance and safety tips.

By staying informed and actively engaging with your students's online activities, you can help ensure their safety in the digital world.

Help keep everyone healthy! Please do not send your child to school if they have cold or Flu-like symptoms, have a fever or are requiring any type of medication to keep them comfortable. If your child has recently recovered from an illness and requires medication while at school, please contact our school nurse before sending them to school. This ensures that the proper arrangements are made to administer the medication safely and in compliance with school policies.

Your cooperation helps us provide the best care for your child. Thank you!
