From the Principal's Desk
Hello Little Viking Families,
I can't believe we are in the final trimester of the school year! The year is flying by and we are in full learning mode here at Salt Creek! Please join us on Wednesday, March 25th for our Open house/Art Show! The walls are getting covered with student work both in and out of the classrooms for you to enjoy!
Please see a few more important updates below:
1) Truancy Letters - The end of the trimester means attendance/truancy letters will have been mailed out this week as well. If your child has missed 10% of the school year (10 days or more) you will be receiving a letter in the mail indicating their truancy status. If you received a truancy letter in the fall and attendance has not improved, you will be receiving a second letter which requires a doctor's note for any further absences this year.
These letters are not to scare or punish, but to inform parents of your child's attendance rates. We have also had a terrible flu going around this season, so I know many absences have been due to illness! Our goal is to work with families to ensure students attend school. Please reach out at any time with any questions or concerns regarding your student attendance!
2) 2026-2027 School Year Registration is OPEN - Please make sure to register for the next school year as soon as possible! There are no fees and all students who register by May 1st will get a free school t-shirt for the upcoming year! Registering early helps us know how many students we have in each grade level and if we need to combine or add sections. So please don't delay! See the flyer below about how to register.
3) 2026-2027 PRESCHOOL - Spots are filling QUICKLY! Being a current PreK student does NOT guarantee your spot for next school year. As of now we are again only anticipating 3 full sections and a WAIT LIST. Please register ASAP to guarantee your spot for preschool 2026-27.
4) Lost and Found - Please take a look at the pictures of the lost and found below. We will set out lost and found items during open house, but any unclaimed items will be donated during Spring Break.
Thank you,
-Mrs. Scanlan

Lunch Balances
Overdue Breakfast/ Lunch Balances
Don't forget to check and pay any overdue lunch balances. You can check balances and pay on your parent Skyward account. You can also send cash or check payment to school with your child in a marked envelope with name and what payment is for. The office will then account for the cash or check payment on your student's Skyward.

I Love U Guys ❤️
Standard Response Protocol
Salt Creek District 48 has adopted an emergency protocol response from the I Love U Guys Foundation. This is a program that has been adopted by many of the schools within DuPage County. Over the summer, the administrative team attended training on the protocol and is passing along the training to all staff. We also want to make families aware of the five different protocols so you can be familiar with the language you may hear your child or the school use.
Payments & Fees
In your parent portal in skyward, click on the fee payment tile, then in the far right hand top corner click on the "make online payments" button. This will take you to Revtrak. Make sure to sign up before you try to make payment. Once you can sign in, click the Make a Payment button in the middle of the page. This new service will streamline the payments so you can make a payment or set up recurring payments. This is directly connected to Skyward so you see the money immediately go to your child's account. If you have any questions please email or call your school office.
Preschool Payments: Once in Revtrak you will see in the upper right area an arrow next to SHOP. Click the arrow and pick Preschool in order for you to complete your payment. If you have any questions please email or call the Salt Creek school office.
