DCS Ravens' Report
June 14th, 2024
Message from Nicole Pease, Principal
Hello DCS families, this is the final newsletter for the 2023-2024 school year! We sure know how to make the most of our last week! Field Day/Water Fun Day was an amazing time, despite the cool temps. Kelly Parker's planning for Field Day makes it run like clockwork. The Water Fun in the afternoon started with the Dublin Fire Department coming and using the water hose to spray the students! The students then were able to celebrate their spring assessment efforts with tossing water sponges at the staff. They loved every minute!
Wednesday we travelled to the Friendly Farm! It was precious to watch all the students try and catch a chicken, feed the goats, and just enjoy being outside!
Thursday we celebrated the year. Each grade showcased their skills with a song, poem, or Reader's Theater. The whole school shared songs they had practiced. It was a lovely way to end the year.
Thank you so much for the support of our special school! I hope you all have a wonderful summer, filled with fun, family, and relaxation. I hope to see you at the beach, Nicole
DCS Cares about Recycling
Thank you so much to Morgan Jadis for taking the DCS recycling to the transfer station each week! It is very appreciated!
Did you know that DCS has been recycling clean plastic bags since 2022? Even more exciting is that we have recycled 683 pounds of plastic since this program started! That is about the same as a zebra, motorcycle, or baby grand piano weighs! That is amazing! Thanks so much to Mrs. Hopkins for bringing this program to DCS!
Parent Communication Equity Audit at ConVal
In fulfillment of one of the objectives in its 2023-2028 Strategic Plan, the ConVal School District is conducting an equity audit.
The audit is a critical step in achieving ConVal’s Supportive Structures for Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility goal as outlined in Priority 3 of the strategic plan. The District believes that this goal and its related action steps will lead to improved teaching and learning opportunities and outcomes for all students.
Your input is key to the process, and we ask you to consider participating in one of the focus groups scheduled for next week.
There will be three focus groups that will meet virtually: one open-invitation focus group for all families, one focus group devoted to families of color, and one focus group for families with children in the special education program. Each focus group session will last about 60-90 minutes. All participants' identities will be confidential and anonymous.
Your voice is very important in this process. Please consider attending one or more of the following:

For more information on the audit and a chance to hear from the individuals conducting the audit, please see this recording of a town hall meeting that was conducted on Thursday, May 30, 2024.
Summer Learning Registration
Good Afternoon,
It is time to register your child for Summer Learning. Please use the following link to sign your elementary child(dren) up. An early registration will ensure that we have the staff and resources to host a robust summer learning program. A separate email will be sent later in the month to register middle and high school students for Summer Academy.
Explore and Expand (all schools) and Title 1 (for AES, PES, Pierce and GES) will begin on July 9th and run through August 1st. The daily schedule for each program is 9 - 12 Tuesday through Thursday. MS Summer Academy (for all rising 5th graders) begins on July 8th and runs through August 1st. MS Summer Academy is four days a week from 8am - 12:15pm. A more detailed description of summer learning opportunities can be found in the registration form.
Similar to last year, all summer programming is free.
Please reach out with any questions!
Best,
Amy Janoch and Kathie Morrocco
