Arrival & Dismissal Arrival & Dismissal

Arrival and dismissal as a car rider can be very complex! Please see the map below on entering and exciting the arrival and dismissal area, located in the new loop on the south end of the Primary School.

I ask for a great amount of patience during the first weeks of school. We have many students who will be picked up as a car rider and it takes a great amount of time to teach those new to the building how to get to the car line or the bus line. It may take up to 20 minutes (or more) as we train our Kinder-Eddies to exit the building safely. All available district staff are on hand to help guide our students to their vehicles.

If you child is a bus rider, please be patient as well. Drivers are learning new routes and new students. It also takes time to teach the students how to exit from the bus safely.

Please see the map below for our new procedures.

Walker Arrival and Dismissal Procedures Walker Arrival and Dismissal Procedures

To ensure the safety of all students, procedures for walkers will now take place at the designated crossing guard location rather than at the side or front of the Primary building.

Arrival:

  • Students who walk to school should arrive at the crossing guard.

  • There should be no car traffic in the front of the building during arrival for walkers. Families driving to school must use the arrival loop.

Dismissal:

  • Students who are designated as walkers will be escorted by a staff member to the crossing guard. This is only students who live in the neighborhood.

  • Students will be handed off directly to their parent/guardian at the crosswalk.

  • There should be no car traffic in the front of the building during walker dismissal. Families driving to pick up their child must use the dismissal loop.

These changes are designed to:

  • Provide a safe, supervised transition for walkers at both arrival and dismissal.

  • Reduce congestion and confusion near building entrances.

  • Ensure students are always crossing at the designated crosswalk with adult support.

  • Maintain a smooth flow of traffic by requiring all vehicles to use the arrival/dismissal loop.

We appreciate your cooperation in helping us keep students safe before and after school.

Transportation Transportation

Transportation

The EPS Transportation department has a great responsibility ensuring the safety of children who ride our buses. Last minute changes to a student’s transportation schedule increases the chance that a child may not end up going to the proper and intended location. Last minute changes are highly discouraged!

Any change to a child’s normal dismissal routine add a great deal of responsibility to the office staff, teachers, and drivers and result in unnecessary interruptions to classroom instruction. Please send a note to school or call the school office before 2:30 p.m. when a change is necessary. Change requests after 2:30 p.m. may not be honored. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

HERE COMES THE BUS!

Here Comes the Bus is an easy-to-use website and app (available at the APP Store and Google Play) that enables you to see the location of your child's school bus on a smartphone, tablet or personal computer. This way, you know when the bus is near your stop, so you can send your child out at the right time, or you can be ready for them to get off the bus. Here's how to sign up:

  1. You MUST have your child's student ID # to enroll, if you do not have this information, please contact the building they attend before downloading the app.

If your child has not yet experienced using a urinal, please consider giving him an opportunity to practice in a public restroom, such as at a restaurant or store. Because we have few male staff members available to assist with this skill, it is very helpful when students arrive with some prior experience.

Thank you for your support!
