Parent Teacher Conference Meal Fundraiser
Parent teacher conferences for the Fall semester are scheduled for October 15 and October 16. In an effort to take some pressure off of district parents, the administration will be setting up meals for the teachers on these evenings, and we would like to ask parents to assist in funding this for teachers– if you are able– instead of asking parents to provide the meals for teachers as has been done in the past.
As we will be offering the same meals for all district staff, we will be collecting donations together for meals. In order to provide these meals to staff, we are asking for a $5-10 suggested donation for your child's school. If you have students at multiple schools, you can make your donation one time, and note the fund distribution on your donation. We will be collecting donations in a couple of different manners.
You are welcome to send cash or check with your student to give to their building secretary–checks can be made out to USD 343.
You can also use the Paypal link below to donate. If you do not have a PayPal account, you are still able to donate with this link by using a debit/credit card, similar to buying a product online.
If you have students in multiple buildings, you are welcome to send your donation to one building, as the funds will be going to the same cause. Similarly, if you have students in several buildings–you can make the donation once using the provided link. When prompted, choose one of your students’ schools and then in the comment section type the other school(s) that you would like the donation to apply to.
For instance, if you have students at LES, PLMS and PLHS– if you are donating $15 you can select LES as the primary school, and then in the comment section you can type PLMS and PLHS– and the donation will be split evenly.
We greatly appreciate your support of the teachers in our district! If you have any questions, please reach out to one of the school offices.
Message for seniors from Mr. Scherschligt
Hey Seniors! Big day coming up—October 7th!
On Tuesday, October 7, from 9:00 AM–1:00 PM in the HS computer lab (Mrs. Molleker-Jamison's room), Myself and a few volunteers will be working with seniors to complete your college applications. This is a special day when many colleges waive their application fees—so it’s a great opportunity to apply for college for FREE!!! We will also be handing out VU scholarship offers to students. This is a program where you can see all the scholarship money you are being offered by schools from around the country just based on your GPA and ACT scores.
Plus there will be giveaways, food, and more! This will be an event where you can come and go as you need to complete all your college applications at once.
Be there. Get it done. #APPLYKS #YOUKAN
PLHS Focus for 25-26
AI Usage Policy
As the use of AI becomes increasingly prevalent in education it is important that we are on the same page when it comes to student usage. Please refer to the student handbook as a reference for acceptable use of AI. In any case of suspected abuse of AI the teacher will grade the student based off the skill or knowledge possessed by that student. This will be done by conducting a verbal assessment, a supervised written or typed assessment, or by another alternative teacher approved method. Ultimately, the teacher will determine the best way to assess the actual mastery of the content. Every teacher will address the use of AI in their classrooms at the beginning of the school year and we will all continue to learn how to best use it in the school setting as we move forward.
Cell Phone Policy
PLHS will be strictly enforcing the cell phone policy that is set forth in the student handbook this year. While in class students are not to have phones out. They may use them during breaks, lunch, and before/after school. This is a school wide policy and will not be a "classroom by classroom" discretionary decision. Please review the handbook for expectations/consequences for not following the policy. Please help us by supporting this policy as we believe it is best for all of our students.
