Hines Mission and Vision
Mission: At Hines Elementary, it is our unwavering commitment to establish a safe and inclusive learning environment. Our students will feel loved, supported, and find joy in learning. ❤️
Vision: At Hines Elementary, we are committed to cultivating a vibrant and dynamic learning environment that ignites curiosity, fosters creativity, and celebrates student achievements. We are dedicated to providing opportunities for critical thinking that are essential for academic success and positive character growth. Through collaboration with families and the wider community, we strive to empower our students to reach their full potential and become responsible, compassionate, and engaged citizens.
A Note from Mrs. Mathe
We had a wonderful week at Hines! Our 3rd and 4th grade students truly shined on the STAAR Reading test, and I am so proud of their hard work and effort!
I also want to address a few safety concerns that have been brought to my attention. Some parents have shared concerns about traffic backups at our car line entrance and exit, particularly when a CISD officer is not present. While we are fortunate to typically have an officer on duty, there are times when they must respond to other situations. When an officer is present, they are able to help direct traffic and keep things moving efficiently. However, when they are not at the entrance/exit, our crossing guard is not legally permitted to direct traffic. Their role is to ensure students safely cross at designated crosswalks.
Our district coordinator for crossing guards has worked with our new crossing guard to implement a system of allowing students to cross, then releasing cars, and alternating between the two. This process is designed with student safety as the top priority, as it is not safe to have both cars and students moving through an intersection at the same time. We will continue to monitor and adjust the timing to improve the flow while keeping safety first.
Additionally, another safety concern was noted regarding students who walk or bike to school independently. Some students may need reminders to fully stop at all intersections, especially those without a crossing guard. For example, after crossing at Lexington and Woodson’s Reserve Drive with the crossing guard, some students have been observed continuing through intersections like Royal Lake without stopping. We ask that families please review safe practices with their children, including stopping, looking both ways, and proceeding with caution at every intersection.
Thank you for your continued support in helping us keep all of our Huskies safe!
Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast
We are excited to invite all of our wonderful parent volunteers to our Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast! This is a small token of our gratitude for the time, energy, and care you have given to support our students, staff, and campus throughout the year.
Your willingness to lend a helping hand, whether in the classroom, at events, or behind the scenes, has made a meaningful difference in creating a positive and supportive environment for our school community. We truly could not do it without you!
We hope you will join us as we celebrate and thank you for all that you do. We are so BERRY grateful for each and every one of you!

Student Spotlight
Student Spotlight is a dedicated section in The Hines Herald that celebrates the amazing achievements, acts of kindness, talents, and positive contributions of our Huskies both inside and outside of school.
This space recognizes students who are reaching personal goals, excelling in academics, athletics, or the arts, serving others, or making a meaningful difference in our community. Our students are accomplishing incredible things, and Student Spotlight is one way we proudly share and celebrate those moments.
We encourage families to submit their child’s accomplishments so we can continue highlighting and honoring the many ways our Huskies shine. We look forward to featuring more of these inspiring stories!
Student Spotlight- Diego Rodriguez
Diego has been playing baseball for the past five years, and his love for the game continues to grow with every season. Through baseball, he has learned the importance of teamwork, perseverance, and giving his best effort every time he steps onto the field.
His dedication has paid off, as he has celebrated multiple team successes, including winning a couple of World Series championships in Orwall. Most recently, Diego and his new team brought home a tournament win—an exciting accomplishment that reflects his hard work and commitment.
Way to go, Diego! We are proud of the determination and positive attitude you bring both on and off the field. ⚾
