All choirs from our high school vocal music department under the direction of Sohaliah Stout and Stephanie Easley presented their fall concert on October 11th to a packed house. Audience members enjoyed a varied concert that included everything from jazz and pop to massive choral works in Latin. It was and wonderful evening of great music making. Their next concert will be on November 7th at 6:00 PM in the Mustang Performing Arts Center as they celebrate and recognize the commitments and sacrifices of our veterans.

Bronco Arts Ambassadors is a student leadership team focused on arts advocacy and service in Mustang Public Schools and the Mustang community. Led by Samantha Waldrop, Mustang Performing Arts Center Director, this select group of students met this past Monday afternoon to lay out plans for their work this year. To be selected, students had to apply and provide teacher recommendations. There are students representing every art form we offer in MPS. Look for great things to come from this group!

Their next competitions are in Broken Arrow on October 29th for Oklahoma Bandmasters Association Championships (OBA State Contest) and then November 11-12 in Indianapolis for BOA National Finals Competition.

Makeup! Makeup!

The term "makeup" has a different definition in Theatre Arts than it does in the rest of the school. Ms. Farnham is helping Theater II students learn how to apply effective stage makeup. They can make you look younger or older with some impressive techniques. Oscars are awarded for this type of work and it must start somewhere!

The very first Mustang Teacher Art Show will take place from 4:30 - 7:00 at the Mustang Education Resource Center on November 10. Have you ever wondered why our students are such accomplished visual artists? It's because they are being taught by active artists who make art themselves. Come see the amazing work done by our own visual art educators. Art for purchase will be available.

Bands on Stage Bands on Stage

Mustang bands not only perform well on the field, they also do great things on stage. The 2nd hour and 4th hour Concert Bands under the direction of Jacob Hofer and Jonathan Knophel assisted by Shane Holquist and Chris Ozinga along with the MHS Jazz Ensemble under the direction off Cleon Chai presented their Fall Concert on October 20th. The Concert Bands presented great works by Oklahoma composer David Gorham along with fanciful works by Brian Beck and Brian Balmages. The Jazz Ensemble played a concert of classic works from the great tradition of 20th century dance bands. Great music was enjoyed and wonderful learning was demonstrated by all.
