A Letter from Mr. Savage
We have several very important dates coming up here at Valley Heights! May 5th is the Baccalaureate program for the Class of 2024 and this event will start at 7:00 pm. The public is invited to join us in the Commons for this service. May 8th is the final day of classes for the Class of 2024 with graduation rehearsal in the afternoon. Class members will be visiting both elementary schools that day so that these students can see that hard work does have its rewards. After the elementary visits we will gather in the gym for a walk-through, watch the Senior Video as a class, and rehearse or Val and Sal speeches. Later that evening we will gather in the Commons for Senior Award Night where we will announce all of our scholarships and other academic awards. Finally, class members will receive their diplomas during graduation ceremonies on May 11th at 2:00 pm in the gymnasium. This class has accomplished much over the past four years and we are very proud of each and every one of them!
Our music department received some great news this week! Nine students qualified to be a part of the KSU All-Star Marching Band in the fall! Those students selected are Juliet Busey, Lillian Busey, Julia Heinen, Henry Bachura, Abigail Thorn, Harmony Conti, Kloee Martin, Alex Pack, Carter Germann and Callie Schmidt. Congratulations to these fine musicians and to their instructor, Ms. Brooklyn Coleman.
Members of our FFA program participated in the State FFA competitions this past week and represented Valley Heights in fine fashion. Our Horse Judging team placed 4th in the state with Senior Brooke Porter leading the charge with a 5th place medal. Other team members were Anna Brungardt, Kinze Wessel and Kayla Bigham. Our Livestock Judging team placed 24th overall out of 101 teams that were competing. Junior Dustin Denton placed 15th and Kinsley Gillig placed 46th out of 360 other FFA members competing. Other team members Kynadee Bishop and Lawson Stryker. Congratulations to these students and to our advisor, Ms. Carrie Husband.
Parents – the summer weight lifting schedule has been posted. We do have copies here at the school and I know it was sent out via a Thrillshare post! We are putting together a summer schedule for all activities not only for our students but for you as well! We hope this information allows you time to schedule your family activities during summer break.
As we get closer to the end of the school year please make sure your child is bringing back everything that needs to be turned in so they can check out! This would include library books, technology and any other items that they may have borrowed from the school!
If you have the time we would like to invite you to the TVL Track Meet on May 9th! Valley Heights will serve as the host with field events starting at 3:00 pm. There are some terrific athletes in the TVL and the meet will prove to be very competitive with plenty of great times, heights and distances. We are looking forward to a very successful day for our Mustangs and would like to have you in attendance to cheer them on!
