A Message from Mrs. Spisich
It's been a nice, short, and sunny week here at South! Thank you again to everyone who came out to support our Bulldog Jog and PTO. Our students and staff had a great time, and we are so grateful to see so many of you cheering on our Bulldogs from the sidelines!
It was a busy week with fitness testing in gym and the Bulldog Jog, but our kids showed up and did a great job!
Please take a moment to review the Safety Week information below, as we will be practicing a variety of drills at school and with transportation.
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!
Bulldogs Caught Being Positive
Throughout the day, our Bulldogs have opportunities to be Caught Being Positive by showing kindness, responsibility, and leadership throughout our school! Staff celebrate these moments with a Blue Slip, and each week, three students from each grade are randomly selected to be celebrated.
These are the everyday moments that bring our Portrait of a Graduate to life! I’ll share our students here each week so we can celebrate them together as a South Meadows community!
3rd Grade - Cooper K, Penny C, Lily W
4th Grade - Hazel T, Nolan O, Addlynn H
5th Grade - Clara S, Meena H, Keegan B

Safety Week October 19th
Next week is Safety Week at South Meadows! Below is our tentative drill schedule. We know many families like to prepare their children for upcoming drills, and we appreciate your partnership. During drills, a sign will be posted on the front door to let visitors know it may take a few extra minutes for office staff to assist them.
10/20: Fire Drill
10/21: Tornado/Weather Drill
10/22: Lockdown Drill
Updates and Information
Bus Attendance Tags - Transportation
Bus attendance tags will be distributed, and students will begin using them on the following schedule:
Monday: 3rd Grade
Tuesday: 4th Grade
Wednesday: 5th Grade
Once students receive their tags, please help them get into the habit of keeping them in their backpacks and wearing them when leaving the building at the end of the day to board the bus.
Late Arrival
Students arriving after 8:00am must sign in on the iPad in the front vestibule, and the arrival gets marked as tardy. We know mornings can be busy! Arriving before 8:00 helps students avoid the sign in line and get their day started on time.
Item Drop Off
If your child forgets an item at home, you can leave it on the designated table in the front vestibule along with a note for your student. Our office staff will make sure the item gets to your child as soon as they have a moment between helping others.
Halloween at South
We are excited for a fun day of costumes, friends, and building wide activities! Students will enjoy stations led by staff and community volunteers, along with an outdoor costume parade for families to enjoy as spectators.
Family Costume Parade: Families are invited to watch our outdoor parade beginning at 8:20 am Spectators may line the perimeter of the building, from the front bus doors to the playground in the back. The parade will travel around the building, excluding the sidewalk along the back lot.
We want this to be a fun and special day for all students! Please make sure costumes are school-appropriate. If you are unsure whether something may be too scary or not quite right for school, please choose another option.
Please leave the following at home:
Large inflatable costumes
Blood or gore
Weapons
Full-face masks
If a student brings one of these items, staff will ask them to place it in their locker for the day.
Thank you for helping us make Halloween fun, comfortable, and enjoyable for everyone!

PTO
It was wonderful to see so many families cheering at the Bulldog Jog! We've raised a little over $23,000 of our $25,000 goal. If you’d still like to donate, please return cash or check donations to school in the envelope provided, or donate online. We appreciate your generous support to fund PTO's annual budget for student, staff and family programs.
Special thanks to our event chairs Beth Pickard and Bethany Grondin, the Kiwanis Club, Mr. Wescott and Mrs. Spisich, our elementary teachers and staff, Paws the Bulldog, and all the fantastic volunteers who make this event happen! Check out pictures on the Chelsea Elementary PTO Facebook page.
