Mindful Moments
November, 2026
Department of Guidance and Counseling Mental Health Newsletter
As November arrives, it brings meaningful opportunities to pause and reflect on our well-being. With the holiday season approaching, it's a good time to recognize the stress that can come with this busy time of year and make intentional space for our mental health. November also invites us to practice gratitude—a simple yet powerful habit that can shift our perspective, ease stress, and strengthen our overall well-being.
As we observe Veterans Day, we honor the courage, service, and sacrifices of those who have served our country. We are also reminded that support and appreciation extend beyond a single day. This month, let's focus on caring for ourselves, appreciating those around us, and creating a community where everyone feels valued and supported.
RESOURCE SPOTLIGHT
Gratitude in Action
November is a great time to be intentional about practicing gratitude. Research and wellness resources highlight how small moments of appreciation can positively influence our outlook and strengthen relationships.
Caring for Ourselves During the Holidays

November: Graditude Month
Mental Health Minute: Gratitude Doesn't Mean Ignoring the Hard Stuff
Practicing gratitude doesn't mean ignoring difficult emotions or pretending everything is okay. We can acknowledge stress, disappointment, and challenges while still recognizing the good things in our lives. Both can exist at the same time!
Give yourself permission to experience the full range of emotions without feeling like you always have to find the silver lining.
Gratitude Spotlight: Spread a Little Appreciation!
Who made your day a little brighter? Take a moment this month to recognize a colleague who has supported you, encouraged you, or made your workday a little easier.
A simple thank-you, thoughtful note, or word of encouragement can go a long way. Let's make appreciation part of our everyday culture!
