Cougar Newsletter - April 1, 2026
Message from Your Principal
Cougar Community,
We have finally reached April, and there is so much going on for our students. From Saturday School and Soccer to Testing and Fine Arts events, we are going to have a busy April. Students are showing Cougar pride in everything they do, and we are so excited to celebrate all of their accomplishments. We truly appreciate all of your continued support to ensure our school is a great place to learn.
STAAR Testing is upon us, so please ensure your students get a good night's sleep and breakfast in the morning before the test. We want to ensure your student is successful on their STAAR Exams.
Our Attendance percentage continues to stay strong, so we thank you for your support in getting our students here everyday. A great education is dependent on showing up everyday ready to learn.
In closing, our teachers, staff and administrators are ALL IN for our students, and we appreciate the AMAZING students you have sent to us. Your help and support is critical in the success of all of our students. Also, please consider joining the AJMS PTA to continue to help out our community.
Let's FINISH the year off STRONG!!

NISD Returning Student Registration for 2026-2027
We are very honored to be working with your child in NISD this year! In preparing for the 2026-27 school year, NISD needs to verify student information for all currently enrolled students by June 1, 2026 to ensure that your child has a space at their current or home campus. If a Returning Student Registration form is submitted after June 1, 2026, it is possible that your child could be sent to another campus if classes become full. During this time, your child’s registration takes priority.
Here’s how to begin:
Go to the NISD Home Access Center (HAC) website https://hac.nisd.net/
Follow the steps below:
If you already have a HAC account:
1) Your LOGIN is the email address to which the message was sent.
2) Your PASSWORD is the same HAC password that you have previously used.
3) After logging in, click on the REGISTRATION tab.
4) Click on Update Enrollment tab
5) Click START
6) The first time you log in you will be asked to certify that you are over 13 years old. You will then enter your student’s birthday to validate the registration account.
7) You will be asked if the student is returning to NISD for the 2026-27 school year. If your child will be returning to ANY NISD school next year, select YES. If your child will NOT be returning to ANY NISD school, select NO and follow the question prompt.
8) Click NEXT.
9) Review your child’s information and update as needed. Click SUBMIT to complete the registration process for your child.
10) If you have multiple students, click on the CHANGE STUDENT icon on the far right of your student’s name in HAC, select another student and follow the same steps above. Review data and complete the registration process for each student.
If you have any trouble accessing HAC or you do not see one of your children, please contact the school office and ask to speak with the Attendance Secretary as they may be able to assist you with this process. If the campus is not able to resolve your issue, please complete the form using the link below and District staff can reset your password or link students in a family if necessary.
Once again, we want to stress the importance of verifying your student's information by June 1, 2026.

Chromebooks Carts in the Classroom
Starting this school year, Northside ISD will be instituting a change in the distribution of our student Chromebook devices. After careful consideration, we will be transitioning from the current model of assigning Chromebooks to each individual student, to a model where the devices stay in the possession of the classroom, under the supervision of the teacher. This decision is driven by our commitment to enhancing student focus and learning in the classroom, as well as ensuring the long-term sustainability of our technology devices and programs.
Our aim is to provide the most effective learning environment for all students. While technology is an invaluable tool, we've observed that a model with devices assigned to students can sometimes lead to increased distractions for students or device management issues like lost chargers, uncharged or broken devices, hindering their ability to fully engage with classroom lessons.
This shift to a class set model is a strategic move that will allow us to implement significant cost savings related to device life-cycle replacement responsibilities. These savings are imperative to ensure our district has continued funding and support of our overall technology program well into the future.
Our priority is to ensure all students have access to the necessary tools for a high-quality education. We will provide information at the start of the school year to students on how to check out a device for after-school use for homework or classroom assignments.
We believe this approach will enhance the learning environment, fostering focus and productivity, while also responsibly managing district resources. Thank you for your continued partnership in your child's education.
