Principal's Message From Dr. Otway
Dear Families,
Today Monday, January 20, there is no school as we honor the life and leadership of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. His life mission and commitment to service, justice, and unity continues to guide our work as educators and as a school community. I am grateful for Dr. King’s leadership and the example he set—leading with courage, compassion, and a deep belief in the potential of every child. As we observe this day, I encourage our families to take time to reflect on his legacy, serve others where possible, and stay warm and safe.
We look forward to welcoming our students back to school on Tuesday, January 21.
With appreciation,
Dr. Maisha N. Otway
Principal, College Park Elementary School

Participating Remotely Days
As flu season continues, we want to help keep our school community healthy. If your child is experiencing flu-like symptoms or running a fever, please keep them home to rest and recover. When students are unable to attend school in person due to illness, families are encouraged to use Participate Remotely (PR) days. Each student is allowed up to 5 PR days, and these days will not count against student attendance. We also want to remind families that we have access to a Georgia Family Health Center, where scholars can receive flu shots and other vaccines. To schedule an appointment, please call 470-254-9201.
Thank you for partnering with us to keep our school community safe and healthy this season. Thank you for partnering with us to prioritize health and learning.

Spotlight on Wellness Wednesday
Did you know that for the past two years, every Wednesday at College Park Elementary has been dedicated to Wellness Wednesday, proudly sponsored by Ms. Dugger? Each week, Ms. Dugger shares a meaningful wellness tip or theme designed to support staff self-care, mindfulness, and overall well-being. To make it even more exciting, staff members are entered into a raffle for a special prize at the end of each Wellness Wednesday! We are excited to share that Ms. Dugger and our Wellness Wednesday program will be featured on an upcoming GPB podcast, highlighting the positive impact this initiative has had on our school community. We are grateful for her continued commitment to promoting wellness and supporting our staff as we lead with excellence every day.
Literacy Fun
We kicked off the week with a little Monday fun during lunch as our scholars participated in a friendly literacy challenge! Scholars worked to guess the correct order of popular book titles, competing against one another while sharpening their comprehension and sequencing skills. Those who guessed correctly earned a coin to use at our book vending machine—an exciting reward that promotes reading choice and motivation. Activities like this make literacy engaging, interactive, and fun while encouraging our scholars to build a love for books beyond the classroom. 📚✨
