Scott Middle School's Motto- "We Enter to Learn and Leave to Achieve"
What Has Been Happening in Mr. Handerhan's Classroom?
Art students have been working tirelessly on creating some funky show stopping pieces. Inspired by the holiday season, cartoons, music, humor, pop art, candy, dancing, and a monster mash of other things- the sixth and seventh grade made some interesting two-dimensional pieces to say the least!
With Halloween around the corner, they were told to go crazy and listened to the song "that's life" heavily on repeat. Sixth grade classes made mummy eyes and seventh grade drew kid zombies. All classes were challenged to utilize blending techniques to create the basic values of dark, medium, and light within the piece. They had to execute a work that showed these techniques while still demonstrating high craftsmanship, humor, and the spirit of the season!
Welcome Our New Teacher, Mrs. Fox!
Thank you so much for everyone welcoming me to Scott Middle Team.
I am joining you from my most recent experience from New Story Schools, teaching Emotional Support. My experience spands over 30 years. I previously taught in the Philadelphia School District, St. Gabriel's School , for adjudicated boys, Charter schools, Alternative schools and RTFs. I taught both in public schools and Catholic schools, as well as private schools.
I am married and I have one son.
I am looking forward to a great remainder of the school year.
October's Students of the Month... Maicol Sifontes and Aundrea Butterfield
Congratulations to Maicol and Aundrea! Both students had multiple staff members nominate them and vote for them. Both students are hard working, kind and respectful. They have had a wonderful start to the school year academically as well, and we are so proud of them! Keep up the great work!
Congratulations, Mrs. Davenport... October's Employee of the Month!
Congratulations, Ms. Davenport! Many different staff members nominated Ms. Davenport this month. They had wonderful things to say about her. She never gives up and does her best to be positive always. Ms. Davenport always works extremely hard at her job. She is often one of the last individuals to leave the school building at the end of the workday. She is always extremely helpful, supportive, and encouraging with other staff members. She cares about her job and the people who work at her job, and it shows. Ms. Davenport, we are so happy to have you as part of our Scott team!
We also want to congratulate our runners up: Mrs. Fisher, Mr. Haitz, and Mrs. Lesniak. All three staff members were given a gift card to treat themselves at Dunkin. We have an amazing team here at Scott.
October's Golden Ticket Winners
Congratulations to our October Golden Ticket prize winners! Last Tuesday, ten Golden Tickets were pulled from the box in the main office. Golden Tickets are earned when students go above and beyond our expectations of Respect, Ownership, Courage, Kindness and Safety. Staff give them to students when they are really impressed. The following 10 students were given the choice of a Dunkin Donut, a Fall craft, or a sweet treat at lunch.
Congratulations to: Camila Dyer, Paradyse Parker, Emily O'Neil, Yelianiz Mar Salcedo-Cancel, Sophia Kerns, Oscar Zelaya Ramos, Tamira Styer, Nate Cooper, Dayon Deveaux, and Bolivar Jacome.
