Hello fantastic families!

This week we learned non-fiction text features and what they do, composed and decomposed 2-D shapes, determined what sound is, and learned about acts of good citizenship, holding officials to their word, and education about issues.

We encourage you to ask your 2nd grader what their favorite part of the week was and something that they are looking forward to next week.

Please remember that we want to partner with you! If you ever need a question answered, concern addressed or even a victory celebrated; we are more than happy to assist!

Have a fantastic weekend,

The Second Grade Team

We are hosting a Toy & Gift Drive benefiting Cornerstone Christmas, supporting over 350 children in our local area this season. We are collecting new, unwrapped toys and gifts valued above $15, with our greatest need being items for kids and teens ages 8–18. In order to offer a varied selection for our youth and prevent duplicate donations, we kindly ask that no books or board games be collected right now.

Drop-off location: Baker Elementary Front Office

Collection deadline: Tuesday, December 1st

Thank you for helping us make Christmas morning special for our neighbors!

Math and ELAR Home Support Math and ELAR Home Support

If you would like more resources to use at home with your student for math, these task cards encourage math discussions and critical thinking.

Below is a list of the high frequency words for the year broken down by unit. These words are great to practice writing, reading, and discussing with your student at home to ensure understanding and being able to use them in daily activities.

There is also a "Take Home Support" Page in your child's binder (on the other side of their calendar) that lists optional reading and writing work that can be done at home. Starting next week these items will start coming home, except Thursdays box. We will start sending home books on September 3rd. For now, please have your student read a book of their choice to encourage reading. Below is the Guided Dictation sheet for Tuesdays Box. Thank you for your support!

TIP: Encourage your child to read, read, read! Reading exposes your child to a wide variety of words and phrases.

Every day your student will bring home a binder. This is their take home binder that will contain a calendar for the year, communication calendar, at-home practice resources, graded work, and all other helpful handouts that will differ on a week to week basis. It must be returned every day. Please check this daily to ensure you are up to date on any type of behavior that occurs at school. We appreciate your support!

-We ask that all students leave toys and fun gadgets at home! When brought to school, these items can be a distraction and are a risk of getting broken, damaged or stolen! We appreciate your help in this matter.

-All dismissal changes should be made by calling the front office! It is the BEST way to ensure your child gets home safely. All changes must be done by 2:10!

-2:40 is the latest you can pick your child up from the office!

-Please send an email with doctor's notes to Baker-attendance@prosper-isd.net.
